I worked at Dollar Bank full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Regular hours. 3 work events a year average. Good co-workers (if you're lucky).

    Cons

Had to make cold calls, sometimes after hours during customers dinner time. Poor upper management. If you get a bonus it goes into your 401K only. Management will often side with the abusive customers over the branch employees. Poor technology, and even when it's upgraded it's years behind everyone else. Low pay for the amount of work you are expected to do. Pay raises with promotions are very meager. CEO that sees only what he wants to see. Forced to resume the work day even after the branch is robbed. Owed overtime pay to several current and former assistant managers and only repaid it after a court battle (and discouraged employees from taking owed money).

I have been working at Dollar Bank full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

It is nice working for a company that appreciates your efforts. Very thorough training program conducted by knowledgeable trainers. Upper management is very approachable; they take an interest in you as a person, not just an employee. Excellent back office support. Promote from within. Several social events each year. Improved vacation policy and 401k program in last year. Benefits include vacation and sick days, health, dental, vision, matching 401k, tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

No place is perfect, but no issues that workers everywhere don't complain about!

I worked at Dollar Bank full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

If you work downtown you will have true bankers hours. You can meet a lot of great people at the branches. You don't have to take work home with you. The job is easy unless you move into a management role where you just get more and more piled on you without the pay you deserve.

    Cons

Pay and benefits are laughable even with recent improvements. You will still make far under the standard pay for your position and even less if you are a woman or a person of color. They forbid you to talk about pay so you don't realize how crazy the gaps are between what people get paid. Certain branch managers do whatever they want based on who they are close with in branch support and upper management. There are branch managers who are employed by Dollar Bank who are blatantly racist, sexist, incompetent, verbally abusive to employees and drive away a large amount of employees however continually get promoted based on who they know. Branch Support will act like they want to listen to your concerns but will never do anything about it. They will leave your branch incredibly understaffed and expect you to just deal with it. Forget taking lunches, you are expected to just eat behind the teller line or not at all. HR Dept claims they don't even have to give you a lunch. The amount of turnover is insane. Every assistant manager I met absolutely hated their job and felt overwhelmed and taken advantage of. Dollar Bank is a boys club, forget about real advancement if you are a woman.

I worked at Dollar Bank full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It is not hard to meet the goals that are put in place for this position. Work hours are ok.

    Cons

Meeting numbers doesn’t guarantee advancement or raises. If you are not a favorite of upper management the likelyhood of getting promoted is slim.

I have been working at Dollar Bank full-time

    Pros

Great employees, fun holiday company party, vacation time is decent, 2 personal days added. 401k is not bad recently revamped. Discounts on mortgages is a nice benefit.

    Cons

Used to be an awesome place to work up until Upper management has changed for the worse. They are trying to be like the “bigger” banks even though they state they never would be. Culture has changed. Not like it used to be. Lots of turnover- STILL they don’t pay well even with added pressures. How do they expect to keep loyal/great employees? Upper management goes by the book on “increases” during review time... may make exceptions by 1% if you are above and beyond your goals. Completely ridiculous how this place is starting to look like Citizens only WITHOUT the pay. Start recognizing your employees by rewarding them with actual salary increases... not $25 or $50 gift cards randomly. That’s almost a slap in the face. Thanks for gas money. Such a joke

I worked at Dollar Bank full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Able to get management experience without a college degree. Somewhat flexible hrs if you are the one making the schedule. Good benefits.

    Cons

Extremely low pay. New hires get at least 5k more than promoted employees get. You can get atleast 10k more for same position at another bank. Ancient equipment that always goes down. If they want you out they will find a way to get you out. They have no appreciation to loyal employees and have seen many leave because they don't kiss up to upper management. They have no specific HR policies or procedures where employees can view them. They make them up on the fly as to whether or not they agree with your reasoning. It says in employee handbook each position is given a payscale and grade but when you ask them about it, they will tell you they don't have one and you're in the middle of the road to make you think your making a decent wage. You are not. If you are trying to be a branch manager just know that you will be a glorified sales person. Assistant branch manager you are truly the branch manager but they are taking advantage of you by giving you title of assistant mgr so they can pay you less. You are really doing all the work. Same with the lead teller, you are doing all the work of asst. manager but getting paid less because they give you title of lead teller.

I have been working at Dollar Bank full-time

    Pros

Training is ok. Company events are fun. employees are great people. Laid back. Gym reimbursement. Branch Support is good, if they like you.

    Cons

Challenging to move up internally. If you do get promoted you're paid significantly less than someone with less experience externally... Which causes massive turnover. A lot of unnecessary paperwork. Pay is SO LOW compared to other banks and companies its worth getting the experience and leaving. Pension is frozen. Upper management need to start investing more in the younger employees rather than catering to the people retiring in the next 5 years. Very old minded. No set amount of sick days or personal days.... Upper Management gets bonuses that are ridiculously high. Doesn't add up. You have to do a lot of kissing butt to get anywhere in this place. If one upper management person doesn't like you.... Goodluck with your career. Very political. If you're a woman..... GOODLUCK.

I worked at Dollar Bank full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Training is nice, there's are various classes that Dollar Bank has to equip you to service customers the Dollar Bank way. Total there are about 10 classes give or take you will be apart of.

    Cons

I'm not sure where to begin so I'll just let my heart lead me along and I hope this information helps someone. First, technology is extremely old, so ultimately u have more work to do (paperwork) than necessary. Second, hours are not great when you've been placed at a branch that has extended drive thur hours( which is pretty much everyone) so for example Monday-Friday the drive thur closes at 7:00 so be prepared to close a few times a week leaving the branch at 7:30. Third, when it comes to your all around happiness I'm sad to report that upper management have no morals, they lack integrity, and they are down right rude. Dollar Bank is a very small bank and as a result everyone knows everyone, which that's not a bad thing at all. However, no one has there own minds or ideas. Upper management will set goals for you that are impossible to reach then treat you really bad. Lastly, Dollar Bank is a bank where when you start you will hear great things and want to be apart of what they paint to be a great organization. It won't take long for you to see, upper management doesn't practice what they preach at all. This bank only wants to throw products at customers that they don't need, just to get a sale. Customers are not treated well and after I realized that I seen that employers were in the same boat. I'm really sad to report this. However of you're seriously looking into banking you should know what you're getting yourself into at Dollar Bank.
