Doordash is just another sleazy gig economy company that abuses and takes advantage of the people who work for it. Like most of these companies there is little to no on-boarding support when you are hired. Their support center is of course located in the Philippines. The customer service is nice enough but more often than not they wouldn't know how to turn a doorknob even if you held their hand. Their app has all assorted bugs and many actions in the app are not intuitive. When there are app issues and there frequently are, that is reflected back to the “Dasher” in your individual ratings. They set their drivers up to fail from the get go. For example, the app will send you a delivery request. Frequently the pick up or delivery time has either passed or is due within the next few minutes. Unless you can hail the star ship enterprise for beaming transport the order will automatically be late and of course that reflects back to your individual ratings. At this point I do not focus on ratings and I would suggest you don’t either. There is a little blurb on the app that goes something like, “customers tip better if you double check for ….”. The customers might tip better but those tips are often used to pay you your base delivery rate. So basically, Doordash steals your tips to pay you their promised base. The breakdown they provide is never detailed to show you individual tips with delivery fee per trip. They intentionally muddy the waters so as to hide their deceptive practices. They are very sneaky and underhanded. The company is now valued at 7 Billion dollars. Yes. Your tips in action …. The Founder and CEO, Tony Xi, grew up working in his parent’s restaurant and should be familiar with the working persons struggle to make ends meet and its work force should not have to worry about its tips being stolen. Yes, it surely is a disgrace. If you do decide to dash for these people let it only be a side gig and move on to something else as soon as possible. Between all the wear and tear on your car and the gas it just is not worth it in the long run.

Pros
Good side hustle to make some extra cash.
Cons
DoorDash base pay is very low and you only make decent money if you receive orders that tip well. They want you to accept low paying orders that are far away.

Pros
-Ability to make your own schedule -No penalty for ending scheduled shifts early -Minimum performance requirements (delivery completion rate, etc.) are more than reasonable -No minimum acceptance rate, i.e. no upper limit to how many order offers you can decline -Most work time is spent alone in your car with no managerial oversight
Cons
-Unreliable as a primary source of income -Only feasible during peak hours (lunch/dinner) -Starting base pay for any given offer is absurdly low and does not increase until multiple Dashers decline it -Deliveries frequently pay out at a higher amount upon completion than the amount they were initially offered at, so higher-paying offers frequently blend in with lower-paying ones, making it difficult to know which ones are actually worth accepting and which aren't -Over the years, updates to the platform have generally made good offers more difficult to come by (lower base pay, increased obfuscation of real payout amounts) -No compensation for gas or vehicle maintenance -No tax withholding, and meager support during tax season (they printed the wrong city on my tax forms and did not respond to requests to fix it)
