I have been working at Dow Jones full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Flexible work hours. Comfortable office.

    Cons

Terrible hiring policy. Too many people here who do not deserve to be here. Adding staff numbers based on language capabilities alone has brought down the quality of staff in the office. No progression available unless one fights tooth and nail for it; even if a candidate is clearly deserving of the opportunity without the need for 3/4 meetings to justify his/her case. Salary scales are ridiculously low. The management...

    Advice to Management

Hire people with more effort. Pay people what they deserve. The pay scales here are roughly 25-40% below what they really should be. Have more opportunities for personnel growth. And most importantly, be honest with us.

    I worked at Dow Jones

    Pros

Dow was filled with many people who really cared about your needs in addition to that they were very friendly.

    Cons

The food in the cafeteria was quit expensive. Also, communication amongst departments was terrible because everyone was to busy to listen.

    Advice to Management

I would recommend more transparency between departments so that work was done more efficiently. I feel that that is what most time was wasted on

I have been working at Dow Jones

    Pros

Lots of vacation and good benefits package. Young working environment with a lot of peers to relate to. Only required to work 35 hour work weeks as opposed to the usual minimum of 40 hours a week.

    Cons

No room for growth. Promotions are not based around any set criteria and given arbitrarily by senior management. No performance raises or even much praise for a job well done.

    Advice to Management

Need more motivating factors for employees to work above and beyond their required work load. There are no incentives and very little positive reinforcement. We are also competing with other companies that offer all of the things that are lacking here.
