I worked at Dream Careers full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Nice making good connections with wonderful companies and universities. Fantastic working with the students and making a huge difference in these students lives. Extremely satisfying and worth every second of the work that leads up to the students arriving to program. Had a blast traveling to numerous universities across the country.

      Cons

Somehow there's also turned into a sales role which they have employees for. No room for growth. Lots of closed meetings, gossip, and office politics. Lots of unanswered emails and late payments for stipends and misleading job summarys and false advertising for old internships on the website which in turn gives the students unrealistic expectations. In the summers you were are working almost 24 hours a day and not getting...

      Advice to Management

Remember why you started this company and the original ideas. Start listening to the market and what it holds and listen to every employee. Not just the favorites. Get back to basics and add in new growth

I worked at Dream Careers for less than a year

      Pros

work from home, create your own hours, worked with great people. Benefits were good and ability to travel.

      Cons

no leadership and communication was very difficult. Budget cuts and wasn't able to do my job well due to that. Recruiting job turned into a sales job spending less time on campuses and more time on the phone and selling internships programs. Calmed to be supportive but rarely received that.

      Advice to Management

Give clear communication on expectations and respond to questions, concerns and approvals with more of a sense of urgency. If you expect for people to hit their goals, give the right support.

I have been working at Dream Careers for more than a year

      Pros

Great employees throughout; from starting positions up to management and the CEO. Each individual is here because of the passion and drive they have for helping college students, and it certainly shows in the day-to-day efforts. This is a great opportunity to get in the front door and kickstart your career. It's a good environment in with a 'Silicon Valley'-esque work culture that makes you appreciate the perks and...

      Cons

Not much room for growth. The company would need to hit a soft-reset and restructure the ladder if you would hope to move up in to a management position or otherwise.

I worked at Dream Careers for more than 10 years

      Pros

If you want to work with people that have heart, this is the place to be. You're not just working next to a random colleague. You are working with passionate people that care about what they do and the difference they are making on people's lives. These are good people

      Cons

Through the last few years, Dream Careers has gotten lost a bit. The culture that used to be what it was known for has changed and has unfortunately affected the core product of the programs. It's now more of the bottom line and less about making a difference a people's lives. Don't get me wrong, that's still there. but $$ is put in front of the care of people, clients and employees alike.

      Advice to Management

Management are good people. They are making tough calls based on business. Go back to the core of what made it special, taking care of each other. The rest will follow.

I have been working at Dream Careers full-time for more than 8 years

      Pros

You're working in a family environment, everyone looks out for each other and everyone has a voice. If you are a someone that loves innovation and likes to take the leads in projects this is a great environment, you are given the freedom to work on other aspects of the company outside of your main job title.

      Cons

Keeping up with the salary demands that are needed to work and live in the Silicon Valley.

      Advice to Management

Find a way to compensate employees in the head quarters to match the average salary needed to live and work in the Bay Area.
