I worked at DuPont full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good people employed there. Safe place to work. Management made a good effort to raise the training level and professionalism of the work force.

    Cons

Unfortunately this location was closed in 2016. Most people found other jobs relatively quickly partly because of their job skills and high level of training.

    Advice to Management

Over years poor business decisions have been made which severely limited the profitability of this company. Most of management has turned over with golden parachutes. New management has totally changed company.

I have been working at DuPont full-time

    Pros

DuPont raw materials are used on Spray-Lining & Coatings. Vendors as Line-X or Rhino Linings cannot compete with truck bed liners from Spray-Lining & Coatings. Others outclassed by SLC are Pond Armor, Rubberizeit!, Herco Rubber, CIM 1000 reviews, and Pond Shield. Thats why salaries for Spray-Lining & Coatings for Process engineer are over $142,000.00 annually.

    Cons

Seal Tite plus SLC spray-on truck bedliner kits get unethical competition through some applicators of similar but lower quality durable coatings. These systems have owners who failed to use Spray-Lining Coatings' solutions. Weather polyurea for Koi Ponds, giant outdoor aquariums or big elastomeric polyurea jobs, much jealousy can occur in reviews of Spray-Lining & Coatings from these upset applicators or owners failing...

I have been working at DuPont full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

As an engineering consultant, work on wide variety of projects. Technically challenging.

    Cons

There is a god bit of politics and the environment is currently uncertain due to the merger with Dow and subsequent split.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at DuPont full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Good salary, Benefits, and Vacation.

    Cons

This company was great 15 years ago. Not a very entrepreneurial work environment, and the management structure is very dated. The culture is old-school, and people fear being punished if they admit a mistake. The company doesn't provide any social events to the employees. Now, everyone doesn't want to start a job for fear that they can't finish something. The work environment is very draining and inefficient....

I have been working at DuPont for less than a year

    Pros

Benefits are good, people are friendly and quite helpful and work hours aren't too bad.

    Cons

If you're a young engineer then you'll be surrounded by a lot of old timers who are really set in their ways. Also, the office building is straight up 35 years old and you can feel it!

    Advice to Management

I know that the restructuring due to the Dow-DuPont merger is hitting everyone but try to hold it together guys.

I worked at DuPont full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great work environment for fathers with young kids and average or below-average work performance/engineering skills. Several of the male managers and experienced male engineers were focused on the family and took advantage of the family-friendly culture. This included babysitting their young kids in their offices during school vacations (even when they had stay-at-home spouses), paternity leave back-to-back with their...

    Cons

An extreme maldistribution of workload between technologies (STRATCO alkylation and IsoTherming hydroprocessing) and strong performers vs poor performers. Engineers do not help each other and will socialize instead of working (even when they have agreed with their manager beforehand to help out). Potential for extremely long hours per week (80+ and past midnight) for top performers with a unique skill that no one else...
