    Pros

Work with some of the brightest minds in the business. Leadership always pushing for the very best with industry leading work.

    Cons

Bureaucratic structure and too much process, it can be hard to get things done and do the work.

    I worked at Edelman full-time

    Pros

    - strong mid-level management. - few people say "no." - some very talented people, though its spread unevenly.

    Cons

    - low pay for talent - tons of bureaucracy - lots of turf wars, part of the fact there are too many managers and fiefdoms. - self-starting is discouraged, leaving the company at the mercy of big accounts that can go away quickly. This is why the company is losing money and not able to weather storms. - there is no rhyme or reason to promotion and reward. - The most senior management levels -- including the CEO -- are simply immoral. Promising to avoid layoffs, then doing layoffs, was bad enough. Promoting the CEO's daughter a couple weeks later is, best case scenario, tone-deaf. Worst case, it actively says the CEO doesn't care about what his employees think.

I have been working at Edelman full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Terrific Work-Life Balance. I've always been able to attend my kids' baseball games, school plays etc. without any guilt. Smartest co-workers I've ever had. Everyone is bright and energetic.

    Cons

Client uncertainty is always a pressure. Right now, the world is upside down and any company that relies on client programs and revenue is in a similar situation. The current Chicago office wasn't the best in terms of location and amenities but now that matters less and a move is planned next year.

Thanks for your review. I'm so glad you've been able to make all the baseball games and school plays - priceless moments! I 100% agree that managers and direct reports should talk more! We're putting a new platform in place this fall to facilitate ongoing discussions for this reason and I'm very excited about it. I think that will help. Of course, we also encourage talking more without prompts from the firm, something that both manager and employee can and should initiate. If there are other initiatives or projects that you're referring to wanting to discuss more, please make sure to tell your manager you want in! One thing I love about Edelman is it often works to voice your interest in a topic and then become part of the team working on it! We appreciate your feedback. Thanks for your review. I agree we have talented colleagues, great clients and that at times the organization can feel complex. At a leadership level a lot of thought and consideration goes into organizational structure and how to best encourage collaboration. I've seen us come a long way and there is more work to do! I appreciate your feedback. Maria O'Keeffe, US Chief Talent Officer

Given the timing of your post, I have to give some credit to the pandemic in terms of our work from home policy, and to life forces in general around wild swings in work life balance. And as a parent especially, I hear you! Both topics are areas of interest that we'll continue to focus on and evolve. Thanks for your feedback and take care. Maria O'Keeffe, US Chief Talent Officer

I have been working at Edelman full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Best in class clients, colleagues and capabilities to do the best comms work; opportunity to do not just account work but also run a business - forecasting, profitability and prospecting.

    Cons

No balance - if you’re a high achiever and strong performer, you’re run ragged. That also doesn’t equal fast track to growth: other lower performers get moved along at similar pace to “retain” talent.

Thanks for your review. It's nice to see a nod to the business of the business experience that working here can bring and I'm glad you're pleased with the type of work and colleagues you have. I agree that when you do great work, MORE people will want MORE of it. I hope you'll take seriously our sincere desire for employees to focus on your personal wellness, which includes balance. Through our Livewell initiative you'll find a bunch of resources that may help you define a workable version of balance that is meaningful to you, and will likely include some personal boundary setting. I know this is so much easier said than done, especially if you're ambitious, but everyone needs down time and routine rejuvenation; I hope some of our resources help you find yours. Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'm sorry you didn't feel you could find balance here. I know we have high expectations and work hard. We are definitely listening and actively making changes based on employee feedback, which we now collect every 3-4 months. Our new Livewell (wellness) campaign is a good example, including our recently announced "Dawn 'till Dusk" (no) email policy and Whil, our meditation and wellness ap. In terms of company strategy, yes it has evolved with our times and we continue to look for ways to ensure consistent sharing with all staff. We appreciate your review.
