I have been working at Ellucian full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    You get paid on time

    Cons

    1) A company that wants to be a 'Great place to work' although there's nothing great about it and the management is not doing anything to make it any better 2) the leadership team believes that incapable managers will work better if promoted to the next level 3) Highly incompetent enabler functions, most of which are the finance and payroll teams. Striving very hard to bring down the employee benefit standards 4)...

I have been working at Ellucian for more than 3 years

    Pros

1. Some of the R&D teams work on cutting-edge tech stack. 2. HR team in Bangalore is very proactive, employee friendly and focused on employee well-being. 3. E.g. I wanted to quit my job a couple of months ago due to some issues. The HR he intervened and provided a different prespective and I stayed back in the company. 4. Growing company and bright future. 5. Lots of long tenured employees. 6. Very engaging employee...

    Cons

    1. Some teams work on legacy technology. 2. Some managers are outdated and they don’t make any attempt to change or improve with the current scenario. 3. Managers are not empowered and they micromanage. 4. Finance team here needs a overhaul. Very unfriendly policy and programs and very slow and outdated in every aspect. 5. You will be disappointed speaking to the finance team as they donot provide reasonable solution...

I have been working at Ellucian

      Pros

Great benefits, great co-workers, some improvement with recent high level leadership changes.

      Cons

Managers are not treated as leaders when it comes to corporate kickoffs and strategy development. Managers rarely involved in decisions but get to be the messenger to their direct reports without always having full context.

      Advice to Management

Unfair that some business units within the company are loaded with Directors and VPs (that get extra benefits), but in other business units hardly anyone can reach those levels. Even within my business unit many with director title have far less demands and pressure then I do as a Sr manager. Also, I'm so overloaded with work and have an under resourced team to meet product management's unrealistic expectations, I...

I have been working at Ellucian full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

When I first started working at Ellucian, I was underpaid and the meetings seemed endless. Fortunately, both issues were addressed and now the Agile meetings are at a reasonable amount and my bosses pushed for higher pay in order to keep talent around. As far as development goes, most of what I do involves developing on top of Dynamics CRM. This makes things a lot easier but at the same time does provide challenges...

      Cons

The upper managers seem to say yes to every customer request without consulting the Tech leads first. If you manage an eCRM team, you have to make a lot of hard choices that seem to be unnecessary and largely inflicted by the upper echelons of management. The top executives seem to be pushing for a more streamlined approach to release with emphasis on SaaS, but appear to be largely unconcerned with getting the details...

I have been working at Ellucian full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

The one star review is not a good rating of the company, but upper management and the people team (HR) do not listen, or want to listen, to any problems. They do like metrics and want numbers to show how great they are, so maybe this is the way to get their attention. Here's some pros: Great employees at the bottom of the org chart. They are smart, work hard, and care about the company and their clients. It...

      Cons

There is a huge lack of communication. Its listed as a negative in every internal review they do, so they say they are going to communicate better. That's their sole increase - to just say that they will do better. There is an office move coming to headquarters, and although they said they will keep people updated, they do not. Either some of the directors are making up information, or others are lying that there...

      Advice to Management

Listen! How many times do you need to be told that the directors and above in R&D have a different perception of reality than the people that report to you. Stop belittling them. Stop lying to them. Start to listen to them to their problems. Do not push this all on the low level managers, especially when they and their reports do not get the credit when things go well. This may be an R&D problem. My friends in...

I have been working at Ellucian full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

Ellucian employees are fairly compensated and the work environment is pretty relaxed. The people are generally pleasant to work with and the corporate culture is improving.

      Cons

Not the most exciting work environment. Most of the company is remote so it's difficult to build any kind of real bonds with co-workers. Also, being remote limits advancement. Products are old so technology is not that exciting.
