Pros
If you are an engineer, you can do anything within the company
Cons
Rosemount has been run for decades by employees who have worked their way up into leadership. The vast majority are engineers who try to figure things out as they are moved around into areas like IT, Marketing, Logistics, Sales, Operations, etc. with no experience or training. As a result, basic good business practices like diversification are not mastered, which has put the company in layoffs for a second year in a row with Oil & Gas markets down – a factor which also caused layoffs in 2009. As for marketing, there are a handful of people with experience from top companies like Honeywell and Cummins, but they have little influence and are kept in lower level positions within a matrix environment. VPs and Directors are the decision makers and mainly engineers with text book knowledge from MBA;s, but no marketing experience, training or proven track record.

Pros
Flexible Time, Work-Life Balance, Young Core. Emerson is a company that is young and still developing their new skills and tools but the process is established. They also got the award of 'Best Employer of The Year' so that tells a lot about their people handling skills. You can choose the path that you want and they will support you through it.
Cons
No counter-offers no matter how valuable you are, rely on oil and gas, also stockholders of Emerson are somewhat not in good terms with each other.
