Pros

Lots of fun and unique projects to work on Clients are fun to collaborate with Basically free food and drinks when directing photoshoots for clients Decent place as a individuals fresh out of college and not looking for long term employment

Cons

Was employed for 2 months as a remote Graphic Designer in Chicago and in some ways it was refreshing to work on client projects but overtime it became dull and repetitive. Mundane work like resizing images, updating text, taking the same previously designed media and repurposing it again. Not a place with real design innovation and it will lead you slogging through 8+ items on your list as 'editorial changes' rather than new and refreshing designs. Alternative Strategies has a horrible work culture and overall a toxic work environment. It will become adamant in your first week of working that the group of coworkers you deal with can be quite cliquey and you may often feel like the black sheep in the group. No real collaborative efforts from other designers and often feels like working in a vacuum. Often times would have to apologize for things that I've asked for clarification on in my first week only to get yelled at in a public group chat shortly after. There seems to be a lack of professionalism when it comes to checking up on coworkers and making sure things are being done on time. Countless of times I've seen a coworker get chewed out and thrown under the bus in a public group chat with other designers spectating. Things like this ideally should be held in private chat and not be blown out in public like this, this is very anxiety inducing, lowers morale and overall creates a toxic work environment. There's no shame in holding people accountable, but publicly shaming them in front of colleagues is an easy way to lose valuable, hardworking designers. Unfortunately my time came to an end and was let go as from what I was told it would be "better suited to have a designer in house, in San Diego" so the Chicago Graphic Designer position was eliminated. Only to find out a few weeks afterwards another designer from Chicago was hired and once again, no longer a part of the company to this date. This ultimately concerns me in regards to management honesty when it comes to their employees. William, on-the-other-hand, was a pleasure to work with. I don't have too much to say about him as I've been with the company for 2 months remote, he has done his best to make sure things goes by smoothly. It is unfortunate that some of his existing coworkers can be quite inclusive to new hires and treat them fairly poorly.
