Pros
Norwalk team’s management are very approachable and BLT is lucky to have such a committed manager who deserves much more than she gets. We were often told that we were appreciated (by her not upper management) and her and the team were the only things that get you through the day.
Cons
Possibly the worst company I have ever worked for. All they care about is the money and the residents since they are the ones who give them money. They do not care at all about their employees. The fact that there is such a fast turnaround is proof of that. There are simply not enough hours in the day to get the work done. We were so understaffed. Hard to keep a full team when someone leaves every other month. Carl is an absolute nightmare. There was always something wrong. Even with us busting our butts nonstop all day from 9:30 to 6:30, he still found things to scream at us for. Btw we very rarely left at 6:30 because we were booked every day with tours that we never had time to do admin work like catch up on emails, leads, property inboxes, not to mention preparing lease files. Everything was always a “priority.” Since we were booked all day touring we would stay several hours after 6:30 to get things done but then were yelled at by upper management for so much overtime (because heaven forbid they pay us for the hard work we do). Some employees were even told they were on thin ice for so much overtime so to prevent being fired they CLOCKED OUT and didn’t get paid for their extra time spent at the office. Unbelievable and not legal. The solution would be to cap the amount of tours a day so we would have time to do admin work but nope, upper management pushed tours because that’s how they get their money, from prospects. Even when we did have time to sit down at our desks, we could barely get the work done because the phone rang every other minute. When you are the only one in the office for the day, prepare to take breaks in the bathroom to cry. We would often have to step in and cover for concierge if they had to leave the desk (not in our job description and wasting the little time we had to do admin work). Whenever Carl or upper management came into the office, the vibe was stress, anxiety, and fear. How is that supposed to be a healthy work environment when the CEO scares his employees? I can’t recall him saying anything positive to us. How are we supposed to care about the company when we are berated all the time. And it didn’t matter if you worked there for 1 month or 1 year or 20 years. We were all treated poorly. So much pressure, so much work, and $18 an hour. Yes we get commission for the leases but it’s taxed high. And there’s no guarantee for getting leases. Not to mention working weekends. The job description made it seem as if we would get one weekend off a month but that was always so hard to do. I have never been so mentally unwell at a job than I was with this one. Absolute nightmare. Don’t walk away, run.
