Pros

Powerful and compelling media presence, precisely tailored appearance with potential for growth for those willing to sacrifice. Work conditions are improving and management is making efforts to correct malpractices.

Cons

Extremely imbalanced work-life relationship involving total sacrifice of freedom for the sake of the company. Outward appearance conceals dysfunctional inner workings. Employees are "independent contractors" and denied as many rights as possible. No guarantee of time off, may be called to the job at any moment day or night with failure to do so resulting in termination. May have to work 20+ hour days unexpectedly or months at a time without a day off to fulfill managements promises to clients, also under threat of termination. Depression and substance abuse common. Reminders of how replaceable/burdensome new staff are. High risk field work with occasionally reckless project leaders. Management often cuts corners without hindsight to achieve results for client with zero regard for staff. Exploitative practices to evade legal responsibilities for workers were standard business practice.
