Pros
Highland Solutions is a great place to work -- the people and work we do make it so. Everyone is very driven and passionate about what they do, and they do it very well. I've worked with some of the best developers I have ever worked with -- the level of talent is really high. Leadership is exceptional -- our President is a well-rounded, honest, emotionally in-tune, visionary, and inspirational leader. The culture is fantastic too -- friendly people and a real emphasis and enforcement of healthy work/life balance. Last but not least, the projects we work on are meaningful and are set out to make a positive impact on people's lives. It's great to work for a company where people care about not just each other but also the people they are serving and the impact we are making in the world in general.
Cons
Highland is a small company, and as such some of the benefits are less than ideal as compared to bigger companies with greater sources of capital. Health insurance is kind of crummy, especially for families (high out-of-pocket costs), and there is no 401k match. They have introduced profit-sharing given better business outcomes, so leadership does care about doing right by their employees. Hopefully further and stable growth allows the company to improve health insurance and retirement benefits.
