Pros

autonomy - only because upper management generally dont take an interest in whats happening at ground level in the company to be involved enough work hours - if not in sales decent brands increased hol allowance with service

Cons

board level management take no time to investigate whats going on in their dealerships they are far too happy to take the GM's word for it that everything is fine GM's will not deal with your concerns as they live in fear of the board finding out that the dealership is not all sunshine and rainbows so expect to hear 'leave it with me' a lot Don't expect a pay increase, not even in line with inflation. You are better quitting the job then re-applying as your job will be advertised with a better salary. Overtime wont be paid so if you do extra for the company it is at your own expense. No communication from management so you hear about new acqusitions etc through the gossip culture. staff are villainised if found to be unhappy, no support at all and as most grievances are against the GM's there is no route to be able to voice issues. As if you go above their head to H.O it makes your position within dealership untenable.

Pros

The employees across the business are all lovely people. My line manager was caring and was supportive were he could be.

Cons

A business that left me feeling incredibly ineffective. Every decision is micro managed through HR director. There is no culture, trust, values or investment into their people. The training and coaching is poor and inconsistent. Everything is reactive with no pro active planning. It felt clicky from a senior leadership team and it has an us VS them vibe. Pay is poor and targets are given late and also adjusted month by month. Under-performance is widely accepted across the business and HR are reluctant to deal with the root cause of the issues. They would rather move a problem to another site than challenge poor behaviour.
