- You will not get paid for the first 2-3 months you work there. They have what's called a 'PTAS' contract where you sign away your right to get paid and you will make absolutely nothing while you're still a PTAS agent.
- This continues until you 'trigger.' Which is their word for signing your full time contract. In order to trigger you need to complete a 12-hour training course, pass your Life and Health Exam, and sell 3 policies and make over $1,500 in commission before you can even sign a contract to get paid. This all takes 2-3 months.
- There is so much to learn and they don't have any structured method to provide you with the information you need to sell a policy. They expect you to just jump into the field and learn over your first two years.
- They will try to convince you that their 'NYLIC U' is one of the best training sites in the industry, but most lessons end with "you'll learn this once you get in the field." So it doesn't do very much for you.
- Basically, what I'm getting at is: if you want to not get paid for several months at the start, and you like being terrified of when you're next paycheck will be coming, and you like to have no clue what you're doing in your career for 1-2 years, then this is the job for you.
