Pros
Employees are lovely, create beautiful things in often difficult circumstances and work really hard to support each other.
Cons
The most toxic workplace I've ever experienced. I was made to feel like I was the problem whilst the goalposts were constantly changing, making it impossible to succeed. They frequently didn't seem to know what they wanted from me, making it very hard to get anything right. Meanwhile the Creative Director's inadequate communication and cruel behaviour went completely unchecked. When I asked for support in dealing with this from a different Company Director, I was told it was “inappropriate” to come to him. I was then asked to explain my concerns in a call with the person who was bullying me present. There is no culture of trust between management and employees, even with those in senior positions. Instead the Creative Director wants to provide feedback and sign off on everything, across all departments, even if it causes long delays. Employees seem generally fearful of her and the power she wields over every aspect of every department at Paper Owl Films. It's unclear if the other company directors are unaware of the issue or simply ignoring it. There is zero accountability for this person's behaviour and evidently it will continue to be swept under the rug at the expense of the well-being of the rest of Paper Owl's employees.
