Low pay, crazy hours - Executive Assistant Republic Records Employee Review

Pros

Unlimited access to concerts of artists on the roster / an upbeat office space

Cons

Getting out of work at 6:30p is deemed early and is frowned upon by the higher ups - expect to be in office until at least 8pm most nights. The concert access is fun until the staff is told certain shows are mandatory to attend and the setlist doesn't begin until 10pm. Low pay because the demand to work here is so high.

Pros

Exposure to Top Talent and Industry Leaders: Republic Records is home to some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Ariana Grande, Drake, and Post Malone. Working there gives you the opportunity to interact with high-profile artists, producers, and other key figures in music, which can significantly expand your professional network. The music industry is fast-paced and constantly evolving, which can make for an exciting and inspiring workplace. At Republic, you’ll be surrounded by passionate, creative individuals, making it a great environment for those who thrive in dynamic, innovative settings. As one of the leading record labels, Republic Records often provides opportunities for career advancement, whether you’re starting in entry-level roles or looking to move up. With access to major industry events, collaborations, and projects, it’s a place where ambitious individuals can develop professionally and expand their skill sets.

Cons

Like many roles in the music industry, working at Republic Records may require long, unpredictable hours, especially during album releases, tours, or big promotional events. The pressure to meet deadlines, manage high-stakes projects, or handle multiple tasks at once can be demanding and stressful. The music industry is notoriously competitive, and Republic Records is no exception. Whether you're in A&R, marketing, or another department, you may find yourself in a highly competitive environment with pressure to constantly prove your worth and stand out. It can be challenging to navigate the internal competition for recognition and promotions. Given the nature of the industry, maintaining a healthy work-life balance can be tough. There might be frequent late nights, weekend work, and last-minute changes to plans. If you value a set schedule or need more predictable hours, this could be a downside.
