Pros

- products have virtually no direct competitors (big market opportunities) - vacation policy (extra day off every long weekend + shutdown over Christmas)

Cons

- poor onboarding (basically have to fend for yourself) - disconnected execs who don’t interact in any way with the vast majority of the company or even their own teams (VERY siloed) - poorly managed teams, extremely high turnover rates, and lots of unecessary layoffs - unreasonable focus on pipeline and $$ (leaves no room for error or experimentation) - virtually no interdepartmental communication and many teams gatekeep their information, making it impossible for others to do their jobs - So. Much. Micromanaging. - basically refuse to take on small customers because they don’t think their money is good enough (but then they struggle to land large customers and wonder why they didn’t hit their targets) - no clear direction for products or the company as a whole - focus is almost entirely on one product vs the other, even though the one they focus on least has the most potential for expansion and revenue - everything is last minute; weeks of planning gets thrown out the window when an exec changes their mind on a whim (this also includes employees being tossed aside if an exec wants to try something different) - overworked and underpaid employees (the only way you’re making money is to have VP in your title) - no system for performance reviews or raises - many execs are from out of country now, but they still insist on regularly flying them out to HQ, wasting huge amounts of money, but then refuse to pay for more local employees to visit (they just expect you to make a 2+ hour commute on your own dime with basically no notice or planning) -absentee HR department who doesn’t seem to think all the above is an issue worth investigating or checking in with employees on

Pros

There are a lot of smart people here. A lot of talent, and a lot to learn from one another. The product has genuine potential if they can get things together. Office is downtown close to bars and restaurants. RouteThis Days before or after every long weekend are appreciated. Salary is above average for company of this size and stage. There are some okay coffee and snack options. While they recently announced a return to office, there is still some trust and flexibility for you to own your schedule.

Cons

While the salary is good, there is no incentive or bonus program or RRSP matching which is unusual for a company at this stage. There are stock options, but seem very minimal. Also unusual for a company at this stage. Sometimes it feels that if you're not a sales guy or an Executive, you are invisible. Return to office was expected, but the timing (right before Christmas) was poor. The office space while nice also doesn't support what they're hoping to achieve. Overall there just doesn't seem to be much investment in employee growth or development. Leadership is constantly turning over while very few are promoted from within. As someone else said very (white) male dominated. Diversity is lacking.

Pros

I’ve just completed my 3 year anniversary at RouteThis and feel as though it is a very supportive working environment. Every step of the way from when I was recruited to this day I very much appreciate the support I get from both leadership and the team. The vacation policy and RouteThis days throughout the year and year end mean a lot. The product is evolving and we are excited about what 2026 may bring. Hybrid working environment for me. I like to have the flexibility to come in. Our office is right downtown Kitchener and there is lots to do there all year round. From Christmas Markets to summer concerts.

Cons

I personally have always struggled with worklife balance. This place is no different especially with start ups, we always have many hats, so at times it can be a juggling act. I appreciate the flexibility we have to get our work done. Due to our stage of company no RRSP match is only downfall on benefits. Otherwise they are decent. Male dominated.
