Pros

Competitive salaries that exceed industry averages for similar roles, providing strong financial incentives. The product has intriguing potential, with innovative concepts that could disrupt the market if executed well

Cons

The CEO's leadership is characterized by persistent emotional manipulation and a deep-seated distrust of employees. With a background as the CEO of a news website rather than a tech startup, he has not adapted his management style to suit a dynamic tech environment. This results in frequent belittling, unfounded suspicion, and manipulative tactics directed at engineers. For instance, taking sick leave often leads to accusations like, "I know you weren't really sick." He treats developers as easily replaceable, contributing to high turnover—most engineers quit or are fired within less than a year. As a major stakeholder, he is unlikely to be replaced, perpetuating these issues. The CTO, while a skilled researcher, lacks any hands-on experience in product development or as a developer. His communication style veers into unprofessional territory, including public outbursts, screaming, and name-calling during company meetings. This combination of inexperience, arrogance, manipulation, and distrust from leadership fosters a toxic, unproductive workplace that stifles innovation and morale.

Pros

I think the space is growing

Cons

I had the unfortunate experience of working at Seraphic and I cannot stress enough how detrimental the CEO's toxic behavior is to the overall work environment. While the company has a promising product and talented team members, the CEO's leadership style casts a dark shadow over any potential success. From my very first day, it was clear that the CEO's management approach was far from professional. The CEO's behavior included public belittling of employees, unrealistic demands, and a complete lack of respect for personal boundaries. This created a culture of fear and anxiety, where employees felt constantly on edge and unable to perform at their best. Moreover, the CEO's decisions seemed to be driven more by personal vendettas and whims rather than sound business strategy. This led to erratic shifts in company priorities, wasted resources, and a lack of clear direction. The high turnover rate is a direct reflection of this toxic environment, with many talented individuals leaving the company in search of a healthier workplace.
