Pros
Remote work, and the few people that are truly passionate about health care and patients
Cons
There has been a lot of changes over the past three years, particularly over the past two months when the CFO got replaced in July 2025 and most recently the CEO Kyle Wailes got fired in August 2025 (these are after the c-suite overhaul back in 2023). The company now focuses on shuffling providers among ACOs to get the most money from CMS, which is their biggest lever to drive financial performance.
Wellvana CEO Kyle Wailes was fired on the week of 8/18, and presumably this is due to the company's financial underperformance. Could this mean that another layoff be coming soon (after mass layoffs in 2024)? It is also possible that the CEO firing could be due to personal misconduct (e.g. inappropriate relationship with subordinates, or other unethical conducts). Note that this is one month after the removal of their CFO Ted Shannon. A lot of uncertainty abounds and Wellvana hasn't shared any information about the CEO firing...very typical Wellvana style where they keep things hush-hush.
You may wonder how much do they value physicians inputs? Not a lot. They had major disagreement with the past Chief Medical Officer Matt Rosenberg over physicians influence and fired him as well. Rosenberg now moved his practice to Evolent and sits on the ACO board.
