Neutral Outlook
No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Williams-Sonoma part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Coworkers are nice
40% Discount/20%-electronics
Interesting tools/gadgets

Cons

Scheduling is ridiculous
-Either too much or too little
-"Because of Payroll" is heard way too often
  -Manipulative manager
Poor transit execution
Constant turnover of floor set
Poor communication between stores and coporate

Advice to Management

Be honest - do not tell a set of employees one thing just to have them support an area of the store that is lacking and then have other employees do the exact opposite
Less intense - work will get done no matter the manner it is spoken
Let stores' stock associates have some control over shipment - to minimize overstocking of certain products

    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Williams-Sonoma part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Discount, other associates, and schedule flexibility

    Cons

Focus on email capture, sales$, upts, credit card apps

    Advice to Management

Emphasis on metrics is a sign of desperation...go back to what got you the reputation..customer service and exclusive products...Oxonian can be purchased at the grocery store.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Williams-Sonoma full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Discount. High-end customer (client) base, which requires creative service issue solutions.

    Cons

Hourly managers do not get 40 hours, yet salaried managers get bonuses. Inequitable expectations. In order to make daily sales, desperate measures are taken ("What will it take for you to purchase this juicer today?").

    Advice to Management

Shave top management (DM's and above), and increase pay to the employees who actually work day-to-day with customers (clients). Invest in computer systems (we NEED MSOffice), improve communication between corporate and store, eliminate "mystery shoppers" (not realistic and they LIE), designer and chef discounts should be easily searchable, reduce the number of questions to ask customers (clients)--donations, email, zip code, WSVISA.
