I worked at Wilson Elser full-time

    Pros

Good reputation in the insurance industry

    Cons

They're always hiring for a reason. Lots of turnover. The billable hour expectation is at a biglaw level but the compensation is nowhere close, and you're nickel and dimed for every .1 hour. You're also set up to fail -- partners are hard to get a hold of and then play Monday morning quarterback on everything you do.

I have been working at Wilson Elser full-time

    Pros

Peers/Colleagues are great. Most attorneys are approachable and helpful. Paid covered parking.

    Cons

Lack of adequate training or professional development. Upon hire, expected to learn computer system and software on the job immediately after compliance videos watched in order to start billing. OA micromanages every move and has favorites. OA doesn't advocate for paraprofessionals or staff, but will say what makes her look good in eyes of upper management. Very, very little flexibility with hours of work and remote working. Pay is low compared to other firms this size. Not told sick days are part of PTO during negotiations, so have to use PTO if sick. Required to punch in at start of day, punch out for lunch, punch in after lunch and out at end of work day. Reprimanded if punches aren't within time allowed. Many times need to work off the clock to complete work, but not allowed to be paid OT, or reprimanded if need to work extra to complete project.
