I worked at Equitable for more than 3 years

    Pros

great pay and generous PTO. Very flexible work from home policy

    Cons

In IT everything is project driven, and if your project ends and you can't jump on another project your in jeopardy of being laid off. There is constant of being laid off or your job being outsourced. I've never worked in a more fear driven environment. The new senior management is cutting jobs faster than i have ever seen a company do cuts - all in a capricious manner.

    Pros

Company is full of smart, hard working people. Good benefits, flexible work arrangements.

    Cons

I'll start by saying I am not a disgruntled former employee. Major complaint with AXA starts with senior management and the highly charged political environment of being a subsidiary company within the AXA group. Senior management has a "do more with less" attitude like I've never seen before. They want a world class business operation without putting man/woman power behind it. Plus you have to deal with rediculous demands and requirements from the parent company. 10 to 12 hour days are the norm, and that won't even get you ahead of your work load. You will always be behind.

I worked at Equitable full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I enjoyed the relationships I established with fellow co-workers. Everyone was friendly and was always willing to offer a helping hand when in need.

    Cons

The senior management staff was horrible. There was no consistency and they showed favoritism. The company as a whole did not care about their employees. It was ALL about the bottom line. NO work/life balance.

I worked at Equitable full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Learning experience with some smart people in the organization. Has been an innovator of products in the life insurance space, particularly variable products.

    Cons

Tension between French and Americans make for significant challenges. Weak sense of cooperation and teamwork. Big egos in senior management. Too much arrogance.

I worked at Equitable full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

In IT, good pay and bonus structure. Creative work was well rewarded. Middle management was competent, enthusiastic and supportive.

    Cons

Senior management was, and apparently still is, hell bent on outsourcing to India and ultimately drained this company of all of it talent - all the in the name of short term stock increases. Annuity product offerings were a misguided failure and ultimately all of this combined so that today the stock price they so desperately wanted to influence is a total flop.

I have been working at Equitable

    Pros

There are still some very smart people here... but most talent have left. Great vacation/sick days policy.

    Cons

Very unstable environment. Lots of layoffs. Management does not communicate clear strategy. Employees are not happy or optimistic of the outlook for the company. People are leaving en masse. Very low moral. Frequent change in senior management disrupts work flow and direction. Those in favor get paid well, others get paid very little. Promotions mean more work, better title, but same pay.

I worked at Equitable full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    - Generally, smart, hardworking and friendly coworkers - Collegial and collaborative atmosphere amongst the rank and file - A long, proud tradition of success

    Cons

    - The new senior management team, which joined in 2011, is completely out of touch with the employees. Morale could not be lower. - The industry is experiencing struggles in general, but senior management is attacking the problems with very little imagination. Cutting employees and leasing costs will not create growth.

I have been working at Equitable

    Pros

Great benefits package, pension, and some good people to work with. Enviornment amongst internal sales desk employees outside of the office is fun. Channel managers are understanding and supportive of personal issues.

    Cons

Serious lack of communication and overall disconnect between senior management and sales desk. Serious lack of job security and management seems to promote based on favorites rather then those who perform. Recent round of layoffs confirm that despite performance of employees, layoffs seem to be personal to some degree.

    Cons

Senior management: it doesn't seem that they really care about employees. Lack of communication from senior management. Production is pushed so hard that quality suffers.
