Good company if you prefer stability

      Pros

Compensations and work/life balance is good

      Cons

Too much focus on rituals and procedures instead of development and general productivity. Huge management and upper management team that has no idea what to do.

Constantly innovating and always have room for new stuff

      Cons

I can see that upper management is becoming political in some areas.

      Pros

Great Salary, good benefit, technology leader, great work / life balance

      Cons

Middle management (below VP), horrendous. A very clique company, the Israel team is based of original M&A team acquired > 10 years ago. Most development teams work together to hide caveats from upper management. Criticism is never accepted, it's my way or the highway

was a good company, but failing quickly

      Pros

*Excellent* benefits. With the right manager (I had one): decent feedback, comprehensive review cycles (although less frequent than I could wish), a large degree of autonomy.

      Cons

Increasingly non-technical middle- and upper-management. Company is a walking corpse unless it can figure out relevancy in the cloud world. IT organization has excellent end-user services but is otherwise out of the stone age and the entire upper management including the CIO (Tony) needs to be replaced with people who have a modern vision and who actually understand networking, serverless, cloud, and other modern concepts. The new CISO, Mary, is an empty suit. IT has a slavish attachment to Microsoft/Azure, building servers, on-premises or slightly hybrid vs pure cloud, and mostly just wants to preserve legacy skillsets or offshore to cheap Indian employees as fast as possible. Marketing is seemingly oblivious to irrelevancy of current offerings in the cloud world; PD is aware but 3-4 years behind the curve. Sales is not well-positioned to tackle the new world as it emerges (and might get entirely left behind). F5 is becoming an Office / Office Space / Dilbert company.

      Pros

Good pay, excellent benefits, great coworkers

      Cons

Not even sure where to start. This company (under John McAdams) was all about loyalty and a sense of family. That is all gone now under Francois. It is now all about outsourcing and "maintaining control". A major reason for the recent layoffs and desire to close the Lowell office was to maintain a certain margin so the board didn't gain control over the current executive staff. This company would have been much better served if the board DID take control. Upper management is in disarray. One comes to Lowell and states"there is no future for Product Development here". To have another come in and be confronted with that statement to backtrack and deny it. There is no future in Lowell. Anyone still working here should be it looking for a new opportunity before they are unceremoniously dumped. Once the current project is done, everyone will be gone.

      Pros

      Diverse culture, Stable work life

      Cons

Not able to keep up with the standard competitive market pay rates, atleast not in San Jose. Not able to utilize the employees properly. Too much politics in the upper management is not allowing good projects to come to San Jose which is really pathetic

If you thrive under relentless pressure -- this is the place for you.

      Pros

You will learn a lot from very talented people. You will like your co-workers because they are genuinely decent and hard-working people.

      Cons

Culture now promotes a cruel sweatshop work ethic. All new upper management have been brought in to drive the company into the cloud, and they have effectively manipulated the middle managers into driving their people to work unreasonably long hours. Bonus structure is dependent on this work ethic. If you don't go along with the F5 way, then you risk getting sidelined by people who don't set limits. The layoffs, in particular, have been unnecessarily cruel. People have been driven relentlessly hard before being unceremoniously laid off as part of restructuring efforts. People with 10 years of experience with F5 have been told they are laid off by phone and their personal items will be shipped to them. I have never seen a company that is doing well treat loyal and hard-working employees this poorly.
