I have been working at FMC Technologies

    Pros

Colleagues very helpful; management work hard at getting things right though don't always succeed; HR are good despite other review, always supportive and sometimes deliverers of bad news; benefits are competitive, let's hope the new merge company keeps it that way.

    Cons

Local site often taken for granted, we do good things but don't shout about it, it's what we are all paid to do.

    Advice to Management

Keep the personal touch, do what is the right thing in the new culture.

    I worked at FMC Technologies

    Pros

Excellent Training Program A lot of good people Good Work Life Balance Good career opportunities if you are patient

    Cons

Promotions based on who you know as oppose to what you know but that is pretty typical these days for large companies.Terrible middle management who does not know their own employees. HR cannot be trusted. Most everyone is out to save their job even if it means throwing you under the bus to do it. Way too many good people leaving or being laid off. Most managers are opting to keep the "deadwood" because it's easier. 3...

    Advice to Management

Upper managements needs to do a reality check on all middle management as they are killing the business. Customers are getting fed up with the BS. Stop getting rid of your best talent. FMC is turning into a "Clown School"

I worked at FMC Technologies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The work is Challenging and the training offered at their company university is fantastic.

    Cons

Line managers are young so the chance of promotion is almost nonexistent. Even being promoted to Lead was nearly impossible. FMCTI in an American company but there is too much influence from Norway. They claim you can move to other depts after 18 months if you have an interest but don't believe it. Want a move, plan on 5 plus years to transfer to another department. And the biggest con is the low pay compared to other...

    Advice to Management

Enough with the Norwegians already. Americans are more dedicated and hardworking. Scrap the plan to move to the NE part of Houston. What an idiotic idea.

I worked at FMC Technologies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Plenty of work to go around Good pay and benefits Young employees for the most part (lots of new kids straight out of college)

    Cons

Unrewarding work that is repetitive. Not many "engineering" problems being solved. They could get away with hiring less engineers and more business grads to push the paperwork around the office. Management seems more interested in following the process than actually getting work done. The processes sound great from a 1,000 ft view, but they don't work when it comes to daily tasks. I spent more time getting ready...

    Advice to Management

Bring people in from outside the company to reshape how business is done. Save money by hiring non-engineers to do most of the tasks that you are asking your engineers to do.

I have been working at FMC Technologies

    Pros

They create a great work/life balance.

    Cons

This is a manufacturing company that thinks it's an engineering company. There's a difference.
