I have been working at FMC Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

work-life balance, core-job, opens door to subsea oil & gas field. Young workforce and hence everyone is enthusiastic and ambitious to learn and grow..

    Cons

No consistent work- random spikes in work, working harder than the rest does not mean better growth, opportunities highly (very very highly) skewed in favour of a few departments. no career progression plan, seems that the whole organization is roaming around in the dark with no proper direction.

    Advice to Management

    there should be one.

I have been working at FMC Technologies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

flexible work hours...pay better than market...you choose your own deadline...core design job...

    Cons

HR and admin suck big- big time....lack of properly defined HR rules so still at times personal favors are entertained...

    Advice to Management

please work on your lethargic HR and admin department... a positive atmosphere should be created in companies and awareness about the rest of the market to prevent attrition

I have been working at FMC Technologies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good place to learn. Just keep your head down and learn.

    Cons

No one is experience enough to value your work. One who shouts out loud gets the fruit not the one who reaps it. Top management is only concern with billing, and even selling that what they don't have. Management is doing a really bad job. Global policies are not applicable to FMC India. Not at all a place to stay.

    Advice to Management

Should be more friendly and people orientated. Start respecting people.

I have been working at FMC Technologies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Lot of learning opportunities if you get a site opportunity - Stakeholders(Houston, Norway, Dunfermline or Singapore) recognize your talent in no time and support with high level of responsibility and ready to give full ownership of projects - Young blood all around so good scope for lots of new ideas (although never utilized this opportunity)

    Cons

    - No control of Houston or other well established sites (Policies, Core values, Benefits, Promotions or anything). I believe they never care as well. So FMC India is independent body that can devise it's own policies and strategies - No interest in leadership development - Interested in Billing hours rather than quality of work - New Core values FMC India: Hard work never pays off,Leadership team shouldn't have... technical/managerial knowledge, Never ask for increment or promotion, Never think of providing ideas to make it a better work place(It's Managers & Leads Duty only)

    Advice to Management

    - Business leaders and managers from other FMC sites "MUST Save FMC India". It's better to act before Reputation is lost. - Come out of drafting loop - Prove FMC worldwide that we are not just drafting company but our engineers are capable of handling challenging product developments - For FMC India Managers & so called Leads : Remember If you can't retain - Then you are not eligible to recruit as well- Show some... pride and leave the leadership and work to your strength. Don't just climb the ladder just for the sake of dictatorship. - Give every employee enough chance to express... Just not highlight yourself but remember without hardworkers you can't survive long.

I have been working at FMC Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Casual work style. No one gets fired unless your attitude is bad. (Don't say anything against Director or his favorite pets other than that everything you do is OK) Good place to get trained (If sent abroad to other FMC location) and join a competitor company with good pay. Engineers are from IITs, NITs and other good colleges and most managers are from worst colleges in India, so it is easy to fool them. Some... of the managers cabin are always closed so nothing to worry, you can do anything you want.... Nice place to retire, all pay no work. Good place to learn Sycophancy and politics

    Cons

No Cons at all. Good place to start your career.

    Advice to Management

Carry on good work and ask some competitor companies (Aker, GE, Magnum etc) to also pay FMC India so that test lab can be established as you are training people for those companies too.

I have been working at FMC Technologies for more than a year

    Pros

Good working environment due to young people. Good to stay in company for 2 years and one should leave thereafter.

    Cons

Company is doomed to go bad as none from Director to Managers are capable of managing. Scarcity of core values in Senior as well low level management.

    Advice to Management

Should avoid getting a tag of nymphomaniac by not running afyer female employees.

    Pros

Subsea Industry. Flexible work culture. Friendly environment

    Cons

Lack of Vision Low cost setup ( but living in denial ) Lack of Trust between Management and Employees (bidirectional). Misplaced recruitment Strategy. Dodos hired only because they are from NITs and IITs. young Immature workforce with unrealistic expectations and over confidence.

I worked at FMC Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

1.Decent pay 2.Even being in the oil and gas industry, it recruits graduates from aeronautical engg background too. A big plus. 3. Great place to work if you are a Lead Engineer. You just need to focus on number of billing hours of each employee at the end of the month. 4. Young co-workers and hence vibrant environment with decent amount of activities. 5. Work abroad for a short period of time.

    Cons

    1. One man show. Great place to work if you can impress him. 2. Big time nepotism. You will reap rich dividends if you are a girl. This will include team changes of your choice, higher pay, international trips of your choice et cetera. 3. Graduate engineers are recruited from top-colleges but the lead engineers and managers come from local IT companies and don't have basic knowledge. One doesn't have an... engineering degree. 4. Pathetic HR. They are unresponsive and take no steps to reduce attrition. Really small finance team and hence stress on the finance manager. 5. Stress is given on how much you work and not on how good you work. 6. One has to do anything that is thrown at him by the FMC majors like Singapore and Norway. Most of the work is stupid and menial. An employee is not encouraged to challenge or question the locations (customers) no matter how crappy the work is. All that matters is number of billing hours. 7. Lots of employees are jobless. This ruins the work environment. 8. Employee suggestions and complains are scoffed at with sarcasm. 9. More trainings on English and email etiquette than on products and engineering. 10.Indian employees are sent to work at different locations under the cover up "training". They are not trained at all and are made to work instead as the labour cost is less. Abysmally low per-diems. Just enough for bare minimum survival. One employee had his visa rejected because the consulate felt that the per diems were too low for "subsistence" in the United States.

Hire highly experienced and intelligent people from relevant field and not from local IT companies.Employees are the ones who make the company what it is.
