I have been working at FactSet full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

-Work life balance -Interesting work -Pretty good benefits (subsidized lunch, espp, 401k match, healthcare) -Great opportunity to learn about finance and technology -Clear career path and growth first few years. (great place for beginning of career)

    Cons

-Most key positions are based in NY/Norwalk/Boston/London. If in other remote offices there is a maximum leadership potential you will hit. -Still figuring out best corporate structure for growth -Investments are managed to margins due to the nature of public company, so sometimes teams are thin or resources delayed.

I have been working at FactSet full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Great people (everyone at Factset is nice, very few a'holes) - Collaborative and friendly culture (People are very approachable and happy to help) - Free lunch 4 days a week and free snacks/drinks (Some people call it Fatset for a reason) - Good benefits (Holiday allowance is good, benefits range is decent) - Great work life balance - Flexible working - Despite some complaints of tightening up on expenses and some finance silly rules Factset generally has a good travel policy, decent hotels and an efficient expenses claims system

    Cons

    - Pay pay pay pay pay. Everyone complains about pay, salaries are low compared to the market average, and bonuses are non-existent for consultants and shrinking for Sales. Management decided to take away commission based schemes for Sales people, so no transparency and rewards not at all commensurate with performance. - Factset is actually quite a political organisation despite being a nice place to work. Promotions tend to go to people who know the right people, but unlike other companies its not outward or obvious (i.e. people arent constantly front stabbing each other but behind the scenes there is a lot of political manoeuvring). - Company is constantly expanding, with some big acquisitions but then has no clue what to do with what it has bought hampering the ability for the company to take out the competition. - CEO has been at the company a long time but struggles with a vision that excites people.

I have been working at FactSet full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I've worked at other competitors in the past and find FDS employees to be smart and hardworking. I think the flexible work life balance is beneficial, but also think that a regular FactSet employee gets done in a day what other firms do in a week - so it is a win/win. The program for new employees starting is excellent and I'm impressed with the amount of opportunity provided to everyone out of the gate.

    Cons

Outside of the parking lot, I can't think of anything. There has been a lot of reorg lately, but nothing that doesn't make sense with the overall company alignment - which I am in total agreement with.

I worked at FactSet full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The workforce is young and vibrant, so you will work with people you truly get on with. Management structure is also very flat with promotions based on ability rather than age. Additionally, you'll be given very early exposure to some of the most senior people and firms within the Asset Management industry.

    Cons

There is almost permanently a lack of resources, with headcount being gradually reduced rather than increased, making it tricky to always deliver the highest quality of service.
