I have been working at FactSet full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Great people (everyone at Factset is nice, very few a'holes) - Collaborative and friendly culture (People are very approachable and happy to help) - Free lunch 4 days a week and free snacks/drinks (Some people call it Fatset for a reason) - Good benefits (Holiday allowance is good, benefits range is decent) - Great work life balance - Flexible working - Despite some complaints of tightening up on expenses and...

    Cons

    - Pay pay pay pay pay. Everyone complains about pay, salaries are low compared to the market average, and bonuses are non-existent for consultants and shrinking for Sales. Management decided to take away commission based schemes for Sales people, so no transparency and rewards not at all commensurate with performance. - Factset is actually quite a political organisation despite being a nice place to work. Advice to Management

    - Company needs a vision thats not constantly comparing us to Bloomberg - Company needs to look at what the market wants not just what is convenient or fits with internal structures - Company needs to be quicker and more agile when it comes to market developments, several opportunities were lost due to us being slow to come to the party with functionality or features. - Sort out acquisition strategy, Factset keeps...

I have been working at FactSet full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I've worked at other competitors in the past and find FDS employees to be smart and hardworking. I think the flexible work life balance is beneficial, but also think that a regular FactSet employee gets done in a day what other firms do in a week - so it is a win/win. The program for new employees starting is excellent and I'm impressed with the amount of opportunity provided to everyone out of the gate.

    Cons

Outside of the parking lot, I can't think of anything. There has been a lot of reorg lately, but nothing that doesn't make sense with the overall company alignment - which I am in total agreement with.

    Advice to Management

I understand there are a lot of changes going on, but I think the company overall is headed in the direction. I've only been around for 2 years and I'm very impressed with how much the firm has accomplished in this time.

    I worked at FactSet full-time

    Pros

Free lunch and good corporate perks, normal working hours

    Cons

90% of the company have only FactSet work experience that creates the very protective atmosphere for new entries. They are promoting diversification and kind of 'welcoming' people with the industry experience but behave with them in a very strange manner. They treat people with 10-20 years of experience as children. Extremely bullying and stressful atmosphere for new entries. They are looking for robots, not for individuals....

    Advice to Management

Instead of giving obsolete guidance for new employees and trying to change them talk to them. Maybe you can learn something useful from people who used to be your clients. Please stop bullying your team members and encourage them to bully others. This treatment could seriously damage their health. After six months with the "Top rated company to work in" I was diagnosed with Ulcer which was purely related to the recent...
