I have been working at FinancialForce full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fantastic people to work with. The platform offers lots of technical challenges. Great benefits.

    Cons

The platform offers very little flexibility and potential to innovate and the direction of the innovations teams seems very lackluster and as such concerning. Advancement seems very bias towards people who sacrifice their own time to learning the platform opposed to people who are genuinely skilled developers. Pay is very very poor for the technical area (Salesforce developer and then some). Lack of interesting work....

    Advice to Management

Career progression based on skill opposed to knowledge of the platform. Genuine innovation. More competitive pay.

I worked at FinancialForce full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    PS4, Xbone, free vending machine

    Cons

Horrible horrible products to work with. Management seem more interested in giving you things to take your mind off all the problems with work.

    Advice to Management

Stop messing around with fancy rooms and equipment and focus on paying people more, and offering more training and support. And fix your products.

I have been working at FinancialForce full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The benefits they provide (health insurance, commute and wellness reimbursements) are very good and could get better as we grow.

    Cons

Some members of upper management do not know what they are doing. The longer you work here, the more you realize this. Many of them have been promoted simply because they've been around a while and are in way over their heads. Decisions are made with no forethought or plan or concept of how it will affect customers, partners, other employees, and the company. (If they are actually thought through, that may be even worse.)...

    Advice to Management

If you're one of the good ones, step up and lead us away from the not-so-good ones. If you are one of the bad ones, lead yourself away from this company and allow it to prosper without you. The CEO, while seemingly a nice, personable guy, is not really a leader. He makes things sound good at company meetings, but where is the direction? Where is the leadership when others below him are making these unconscionable decisions?...

I worked at FinancialForce full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Free food and great friendly colleagues at staff level. OK wage but could offer more.

    Cons

No real investment benefits and told there will be no pay rises. Passive aggressive people who feel like they're owed something. Management don't care about the staff's progression. There's no rewards for normal staff members only older staff and management. The company sells it's customers products that aren't even finished or to a high standard.

    Advice to Management

They wouldn't take on the feedback even when I said it to them when I was there so I doubt they would listen now.

I have been working at FinancialForce full-time for less than a year

    Pros

This company offers a fantastic work environment, working alongside some very talented people. The company completely embraces agile practices across all of the offices, and this makes it surprisingly easy to collaborate with your colleagues in other countries. It also means that you have a say in planning out work in each sprint cycle, and deadlines are always realistic - so you feel under just the right amount of pressure....

    Cons

There are a lot of meetings, and not a lot of meeting rooms. It can be frustrating working within the strict limits imposed by the Salesforce/Apex can feel restrictive. You can also feel frustrated by the lack of code-assist features that you get from a rich IDE like Eclipse for Java (e.g. debugging, profiling, refactoring tools, reference/declaration searches etc). You do get used to it, and the platform does give...

I have been working at FinancialForce full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Well funded by Unit 4 and Salesforce so an element of job security. Low pressure environment (at least in development) with a relaxed atmosphere and some good people who're always willing to help out.

    Cons

Development is run like a big company with slow decision making, poor communication, lots of time spent on documenting, having meetings, minimising perceived risks and doing things the same way because that's how it's always been. Management dictate how things are done and there is no will to listen to different ideas and more modern ways of working. No accountability and nobody bats an eyelid if deadlines are missed....

    Advice to Management

Get a grip on product development. Sticking to an approach and leadership that doesn't deliver is only going to ensure that it will continue to not deliver. Recognise that just because someone outside the management team doesn't agree with you, it doesn't necessarily mean they're wrong.
