On a Path to Recovery and Greatness

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      1. Work-life balance is best-in class 2. New HR, benefits and training policies are on per if not better than top management consulting firms 3. Internal recruitment, promotions, global relocations, and client visibility are prioritized to retain key talent 4. All pending bonuses are being considered for full payment 5. New research, consulting and marketing tools have been introduced to sustain competitive advantage 6. Health insurance coverage is improved 7. Star performers are well taken care of and given opportunity to branch out

      Cons

      1. Old partners a.k.a new Global Client Leaders are slowing the "wheel of innovation". 2. Senior management receives shockingly high leeway 3. Most of them are here to just retire in next 5-10 years and enjoy a fat severance package (nothing wrong but it's coming at a cost of bad media) 4. Senior management becomes individual contributor where the opportunity to repurpose research content is high. This results poor bill rate for lower level employees and lack of innovation for clients

Archaic, political and mediocre management; but on the road to change

      Sep 24, 2021 - Senior Consultant

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Flexibility in work-life - Great learning - Industry Networking - Industry exposure - Supposedly good image in the industry - Knowledgeable analysts and junior staff

      Cons

Administration/ Processes - The biggest con by far is the upper management; partners and ‘leadership’. Barely know anything about the industry in which they operate, but take all the credit and are quick to pass blame from clients. Key reason why people are leaving, including HR. - Management is stubborn to accept its failures and justify its actions either as disgruntled employees or even 'market conditions'. All the negative reviews on Glassdoor are classified in the company as disgruntled employees complaining, not points to look at for change. - Each business unit operates like a separate company. Salary, appraisals, events, all depend on the unit you work in. If the unit head is a terrible leader, well then its your bad luck. And unfortunately there are many of them. - Not a merit based system. The closer you are to the partners, the higher and faster you will move in the company. There are people who have no knowledge but are directors and VPs purely because of the ‘relationship’ they have with partners. - For a company that prides itself in future vision and advises companies on it, the systems and IT infrastructure is from the 2000s. Our lotus notes email client crashes at least once a day - Several SVPs, VPs and partners focus on making a name for themselves rather than boost the company's value and growing industry intelligence. Just have a look at their LinkedIn pages and Forbes articles. What's worse is that they use frost analysts and graphics teams to do this. - The new CEO is trying to change things especially at the top rungs of the company. Frost used to be a 'family' business. Most partners, senior HR and some VPs were in cahoots, looting the company in profits and shamelessly travelling for unnecessary reasons. Old partners or 'c' level executives are leaving frost now because of the change. Quality of work - Research at Frost is all about how many consulting assignments we can do and not the quality of work. Most of the research is backed by data, it's mostly just eyewash and based on overnight dreams that's partners had. - Partners will make you change your analysis and data to suit their presentations. They don't bother about quality, but more of optics of the presentation - Clients need to very cautious about false promises and underdelivering when it comes to consulting work. The sales guys and managers promise the world but don't actually know what they are talking about. This leave junior analysts to make up stuff as they go along. Finances - Extremely poor financial performance despite being in existence for over 50 years. - Frost is an extremely top heavy company where all the profits gets shared leading to peanuts trickling down for reinvestment into new tools. The previous owners had to find new investment, because the company was almost bust. Ask any former/current employee about this.
