    Pros

They strive for clinical excellence. They have high ethical expectations. They don't tolerate late documentation. They support their Directors.

    Cons

They put a ton of work and high expectations on Directors and burn them out quickly.

    Advice to Management

Ease up a bit on the directors! They can accomplish a lot for you if you let them. If they are available to focus time and energy on objectives, and have support and motivation, they will make things happen. If they are too busy treating and having conference calls, they are not available to make things happen.

I worked at Genesis HealthCare full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Resources and education. Other than that nothing.

    Cons

High productivity for staff and DOR. 60% productivity for managers with 3 hours of meetings and then insurance auths, education (constant), daily reports, monthly reports, weekly calls +some = 10-12 hour days easily. They would sell your soul for a penny. Remember that and you’ll be fine. If you’re site is taken over and the new rehab company makes you an offer, even if you don’t take it, you will not get a... severance...so I found out at 9 months pregnant. Once you give notice you will no longer be allowed to use sick days. They will take them all and you will have to make up time. When a takeover happens you also lose all your PTO. No cashing out.

    Advice to Management

You will continue to lose buildings and contracts so long as you continue to not care about your patients and staff. You are all probably the reason CMS reimbursement is changing. 60-80% RU’s!

I worked at Genesis HealthCare full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Carreer growth, Was promoted from PT to DOR, great staff and friendly work environment, less productivity requirement than other rehab companies, many locations and good clinical mentorship

    Cons

Make you burn out by the expectations from DOR. Making a DOR duties from recruiting, staffing, scheduling to treating full time bcz of no coverage, no work life balance, unsatisfied employees keep calling out and resigning bcz of lack of raises, poor health benefits, staff has to travel to get hours leading to staff frustration, pressure from COAD to coax the staff to travel to other facilities and no support from... COAD to deal with staff frustrations. No holidays, difficult vacation time approval, they fire staff easily, because they are a big corporation, they dont care about employees

    Advice to Management

Take care of employees, employees are most imp assests, stressed out employees cannot perform their best, reduce multiple management levels and pay attention to satisfy frontline employees working hard to treat patients

I have been working at Genesis HealthCare full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Big company with good advancement opportunities. Lots of educational and free CEU training. Productivity is manageable / obtainable and not to high like other rehab companies. Is a stable company that is well versed and ready for the changes coming to healthcare.

    Cons

Benefits are expensive, no paid holidays or bonuses. Yearly raises depend on profits- which usually means no raises. The company is so large that it is hard to get an answer to questions, you need to go through many many different levels to get to the person that has the answers.

    Advice to Management

Decrease benefits and give, at bare minimum, cost of living raises every year.

I have been working at Genesis HealthCare

    Pros

Flexibility of work hours, help from senior management, there is a great potential to grow within the organization if you show interest.

    Cons

Too much work, less pay, patient care hours need to be reduced for the managers or else they end up working a lot from home.

    Advice to Management
