Thanks for your review and recognizing our amazing culture. It sets us apart from many companies. Leadership is actively working on more visibility into decision making and what's next for GHI.

I have been working at Genomic Health full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The culture here at Genomic Health is AMAZING. Everyone has one thing in mind, helping patients. I appreciate the team always trying to get things completed and hitting deadlines. When you run into the CEO at the break station she will say good morning and strike up a conversation with you. NO one is beneath anyone here.

    Cons

Work life balance can be challenging since there is always so much to do, but depending on your manager trying to make it more balanced is a priority. I miss the startup feel we had years ago, but as we grow it is hard to keep that mentality.

I worked at Genomic Health full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Genomic Health was the first company to develop a test to identify whether a woman needed chemotherapy or not when she had breast cancer. They also have products for colon cancer and prostate cancer.

    Cons

Genomic Health has not been able to keep up with the scientific and technology breakthroughs of their competitors. Their products are not seen as innovative by physicians as other newer labs or research organizations. From a marketing perspective, this makes it much harder. The lack of leadership in the company overall makes it hard to compete effectively. Most of the best scientists and marketing people have left because the company does not provide strategic opportunities. Very political, and it is true that HR plants reviews to keep up the overall score.

I worked at Genomic Health for more than a year

    Pros

    - More information for breast and colon cancer patients. - Gummy bears.

    Cons

    - Poor leadership and no strategy. Only a few people ever made money, and they cashed out a long time ago. - Best talent has left and now just a revolving door of "c" level consultants. - No patient focus. - Politics and petty intrigue take the place of skills and values. Incompetence is epidemic.

I have been working at Genomic Health

    Pros

Many external collaborators, auditors and vendors have basically summed it up, "Everyone here is so cheerful!" As corny as it sounds, it's true. The workplace is comprised of friendly, hard-working, intelligent individuals who cooperate and innovate to contribute to a product we stand by: providing personalized medicine to patients with cancer. At every quarterly all-hands meeting we get to meet and learn the story behind an actual patient whose life was changed as a result of using Genomic Health's ODX Breast product. By all other standard performance metrics, Genomic Health does just as well. Career advancement and development opportunities are encouraged. Clear, honest communication and a surprising amount of corporate visibility is the example set by upper management that serves as a template for interpersonal exchanges. Compensation is seriously deliberated upon, with emphasis on remaining competitive within the industry and equitable inside the organization. Along these lines, recognition, feedback and bonuses are linked to applaud the commitment employees have to meeting challenges with enthusiasm.

    Cons

As Genomic Health continues to grow, typical business growing pains surface: new organizational structures, increased documentation requirements, and a dilution of communication. Given these challenges, Genomic Health is taking a proactive approach by maintaining a culture of truth seeking and honest feedback and a willingness to be flexible in how the organization grows while continuing to progress toward clear, short- and long-term goals.
