I have been working at Genscape full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Genscape profiles people who fit a certain mold : work hard, have integrity, work well with others. This means people treat you with respect and there is a lot less friction because of it. The perks of working in the Louisville Office are great: free Sunergos coffee, tea/water/soft drinks/snacks, lunch provided on fridays, a laid back but professional work environment

    Cons

The office is great but embrace greater flexibility for work from home; within the Technology Organization facilitate greater coordination so that folks get more exposed to a greater swath of the organization.

I have been working at Genscape full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Incredible place to learn about commodity markets and data. Cutting edge thought leadership in both spaces - Great place to begin your career in data science or commodity markets. You will work with some incredibly smart people. You will leave an expert of your domain. - They give people with non-standard resumes a chance. - Great work life balance - Very flexible and relaxed work environment, but works hard when required

    Cons

    - Pays less than market value for similar market fundamentals positions, but this is balanced by the relative lack of stress compared to being on the trade floor, work life balance, employment to people with non standard resumes, and location, specifically the Boulder office. The quality of life in Colorado cant be replaced if you choose to work in NYC or Philadelphia. - Flat organizational structure, so lack of promotion opportunities.

    I worked at Genscape full-time

    Pros

Positive, collaborative work environment (surface-level), open flow of ideas, lots of cool perks thrown in to keep employees happy & build teams, travel opportunities, interesting and cutting-edge work.

    Cons

There is a honeymoon stage when employees are hired when they think the company is so cool with lots of fun perks (a beer fridge! lots of happy hours! charity events!) and their coworkers are funny and interesting who seem to have a great work-life balance. Then, reality hits, and you're working 60 hours a week for a salary which is below industry standard and that promised raise never comes, or you are strategically passed over because someone else was threatening to leave. There is a ton of favoritism in the office, and the leadership team is fickle about who they like or don't like, oftentimes gossiping about employees like middle schoolers. Trust is routinely betrayed by supervisors - and people who were once the "golden children" of the office are suddenly fired without any warning or anyone having any clue why. The CEO appears funny and charming to all, but I regularly heard him curse at his secretary or at his other direct reports, obviously building fear and mistrust in them as well. Culture starts from the top down, apparently.

I worked at Genscape full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Very nice office space and work place perks - Somewhat flexible hours allows for work life balance - Fun work environment and co-workers - Great place to gain entry level experience in commodity markets

    Cons

    - Pay is substantially below the market average - Benefits are just ok, nothing special - Management lacks initiative and projects lack planning/funding - Teams are siloed with very few opportunities for advancement - Managers seem to of been promoted by default because they stuck around while others left for better opportunities outside the company. This is evident in the way they manage their teams and their lack of management skills. - Work can be repetitive - Don't be fooled by "Best Places to Work in Kentucky" awards. Companies pay to be included in these rankings.

I have been working at Genscape full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Genscape is a group is highly talented employees who are passionate and driven. Company perks are great/abundant and company actually cares about their people. Fun work environment and team oriented feel, not a lot of unnecessary hierarchy which allows for constant innovation and entrepreneurial thinking is encouraged. Overall, there really aren't a lot of companies out there who possess these qualities- they may say they do but Genscape actually lives and breathes it.

    Cons

Growing pains. Genscape is in a different place than when it was just a 40 mill company. Now that they are larger, they need to constantly think of what took us here, won't get us there. What is great, Genscape has kept their people oriented feel to the business. That has never changed and never.

    Cons

There are challenges associated with a growing company, but the Leadership Team is understanding and quick to address any potential issues.
