I worked at Glanbia Performance Nutrition full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Benefits but they don’t deliver on the promises during recruitment. Well known brands that are getting challenged in the marketplace everyday.

    Cons

While they talk about innovating, they are very slow. It’s very political and they don’t like change or disruption. Look at their stock price over the last 5 years, no real change. They have the franchise on protein powders but it won’t last. CEO doesn’t care.

    Advice to Management

Know where you want to go and treat employees fairly.

I have been working at Glanbia Performance Nutrition full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Discounts on products. Benefits are competitive. Sense the company is trying to be better. Known brands.

    Cons

Limited employee growth. Company has not matched competition which is evolving faster. The brand is a bit dated and you don’t have scale with companies. Management pressure to hit unrealistic targets and big personalities in management. High turnover. Regards employees in low regard. No investment in building a world class organization.

    Advice to Management

Realize they are not some start up and build a better and well rounded organization.

I have been working at Glanbia Performance Nutrition full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Glanbia Performance Nutrition is one of best companies I've ever worked at for culture and people. Very fast paced and pro-active. No room for free-loaders, people work because "they want to."

    Cons

Difficult to pin point the CONS. Requirement would be you need to be an intrinsically motivated person. If you're not that, don't bother applying.

    Advice to Management

Keep driving culture and people. Focus on the people and the rest of the business will take care of itself, as you'll attract the right people performing the right tasks. Regarding the "customers" never turn your back on your core consumer.

I have been working at Glanbia Performance Nutrition full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The balance between work & life is perfect. Glanbia understands that hard workers need to shut down and recharge to be productive. They offer great opporutnit8ies to interact with other colleagues and are very generous with days off or hours off prior to a major holiday . More companies should take notes from their culture pertaining to time off. They try and put a more European mentality to time off and leisure.

    Cons

Everything here is a work in progress. Things change constantly , month to month , day to day , quarter to quarter. Glanbia is fairly new and with the amount of acquisitions they have made in the Sports Nutrition Space they are still trying to find their identity and what works to maximize their dollar and maximize the best they can get from each of their employees. Because of this they are always trying new... strategies and way to make things better. We understand their vision and we get they are always trying to find a better way , but sometimes its best to let things play out before changing . Also it can get frustrating with constant change , yes change is good , I agree complacency is never a good thing in business , but to much change is not good either.

    Advice to Management

Listen more , speak less. Find out what is really going on in your departments. VP, Presidents, CEO, CFO, Directors , talk to your employees and ask the questions . You are only going to be told what the manager wants to tell you , its the employees that can really tell you what is and is not going on . * Employees should be in charge of their own faith and their own career patch , the opinion of management to... allow or not allow an employee to advance and grow or apply for an internal job is unacceptable, its unfair and its the reason why people leave .

    Pros

+#1 brands & company globally in the sports nutrition category; it's fun to play for the winning team. +Deep partnerships with the top customers in the space, a vertically integrated business on raw materials and manufacturing, and quality systems based on a philosophy of no compromise means relatively more stability and growth in what historically has been a volatile, faddish industry that has been plagued by... less than ethical players & the tag line of "buyer beware". This is company is a bright spot in the industry that is doing things the right way. +Irish ownership with a health mission who as of late have been doing the acquiring of businesses, not the selling of businesses, unlike many other brands and companies in the category who have been selling off their businesses to big Food or private equity. +Fun, smart, good people +Mix of industry veterans, classical CPGers, & Irish expats +Heavy focus on strategy, M&A, and innovation +World-class R&D & consumer testing facility, Best-in-Class factories & Quality programs making products you can be proud of for consumers who are over-the-top loyal and zealous about taking them. +Most of the leaders seem to genuinely care for people, are approachable and real, and are working to implement much needed structures for career mapping, succession planning, and development/training for employees. +Ability to work beyond the job spec, wear multiple hats and take on new stretch opportunities. +Good track record of promoting from within +Lifestyle connection to the brands and products (free/discounted products and workout gear, A+ gym facility at HQ, team workouts, people living a fit lifestyle, etc.) +Significant growth has resulted in strong bonus payouts +Salary and benefits are competitive +Company is willing to invest in growth +Good work-life-balance is possible with a little effort +All in all, a great place to work

    Cons

-Rapid and dramatic change is ever-present in the company & in the industry. The pace of change cannot be understated and it is only exacerbated by growth. It is not for the faint of heart and requires an ability to roll with the punches in response to frequent changes on various levels of the working environment: company, organizational structure, consumer trends, customer shifts, new products, culture, tools,... processes, and people. -Decisions are often made by committee due to lack of clarity around decision-making rights and are at times subjected to over-analysis. -Alignment to decisions can be temporary and fleeting, causing organizational tension and/or operational disruption. -Heavy focus on innovation and new product development creates a lot of churn across the company ecosystem and by nature of the industry, many of the new products will and do fail. -Growing pains: the company has grown up so fast, integrated new brands, re-organized structurally, and brought on so many new people, processes, functional areas, systems and policies that there are often blurred lines of responsibility, missteps and turf jockeying over who will own legacy work, miscommunication between cross-functional teams, global versus regional power struggle frictions, day to day operating disconnects, and more and more bureaucracy creep. -Hardly any global or expat opportunities for non-Irish employees -No employee stock purchase program or any easy way to participate in the stellar stock growth since Glanbia entered the Sports Nutrition space via acquisition. -Some systems are not up to par with other big CPG players or are non-existent altogether (e.g. CRM, TPM).

    Advice to Management

~ Stay connected to the industry and keep us from becoming too insular. ~ Encourage more risk taking. ~ Recognize good work and "good failure" publicly and often. ~ Be seen and heard more with each other. We want to see that our leadership team is really a team. ~ If you align to a decision, don't undermine it after the decision-making meeting. ~ Clarify who makes what decisions. If you empower an... employee to take a decision, do not come over the top to unwind it, but rather hold he or she accountable for the outcome. ~Prioritize. For real. ~You've assembled a great set of staff, industry-leading brands, assets and capabilities, and have a strong strategic plan; the areas of opportunity are culture, org design, decision-rights and empowerment. Win there and there is no stopping this company!

    Pros

Opportunities to develop new sales ideas. The people and team atmosphere. Great category helping consumers achieve their fitness performance goals. Employee discounts on all products! Compensation package and flexible schedule. Able to work with some of the top clients in all channels. Growing company and industry.

    Cons

Change is constant, but if your skill set is able to handle that, it is not really a downside for people.

I have been working at Glanbia Performance Nutrition full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I would highly recommend the company to friends (and have done so already) for the following reasons: Co-workers- very supportive management who you growth initiatives to improve you skill set and just the right amount of direction to guide you. Teammates are very approachable and have a team first mentality. Mission and Values- With a mission of "Inspire people everywhere to achieve their performance... goals", this is a company that you can feel proud to work for. With the products we sell and how important product integrity is internally, you as an employee can feel inspired to truly be making an impact in people's lives in a very positive way. Values like Teamwork, Passion for our Brands, Find a Better Way, Customer Fixation, and others are really embraced and a part of what you do in your job. Performance Nutrition Industry- this industry is big enough to feel established (10+Billion Dollars), yet has enough growth potential that you have plenty of room for innovative ideas and products that will satisfy your creative needs. This is a highly competitive industry so if you like the pressure of finding ways to achieve your sales goals and partner with your accounts to find win-win situations, this is a great industry and company to be in. Glanbia is a leader in the category with a great mix of established brands and new brands being introduced. The category has a lot of growth potential and the focus on protein and energy in the general population allows for new markets and financial levers to established yet. Glanbia Brands- Each of Glanbia's brands have their own unique voice and customer. This makes your job very exciting as you build campaigns and sales programs to represent each of the brands accurately. If means your plans and day to day activities do not get stale and you have the chance to continuously learn about our products and the ones we compete against. Glanbia has been acquiring great brands over the last few years so the product mix is always improving and contributing to the bottom line. Personal Satisfaction- a career at Glanbia really rewards you personally in many ways. Not only from the very fair financial compensation and PTO/vacation policies, but how the products you sell really help people achieve their performance goals. Glanbia provides constant product/category education via their Sports Nutrition School program which is also used by some of our customers. You really feel accomplished at the end of each day as the projects/initiatives you allocate time to are really contributing to the company's bottom line. The office environment is friendly, bright, open, and competitive. Competitive in a way where we help each other grow as a team not just an individual. With so many people from many different industries in past careers, you can really learn a great deal thru conversations. The work is fast paced and meaningful and there is room for advancement as the company does a great job of promoting from within. The focus on personal heath and fitness (fantastic gym in office) really helps your energy level and attitude! OVERALL, Glanbia is a very satisfying place to work for those that like to grow their skill sets, think outside the box to find creative solutions, work in a true team environment, value customer feedback, and can handle fast paced environment. I am very happy with decision to be a part of the Glanbia team.

    Cons

My only non 5 star rating of the 5 categories below is Compensation & Benefits. The individual pay, PTO/Vacation time, laptop, iPhone, medical benefits, 401K/company matches, annual bonus, product discounts are all FANTASTIC. The only improvements in the benefits plan would be around evaluation of company cars as benefit option and offering stock options. Great company to be a part of overall!

    Advice to Management

Keep progressing on enhancing the company culture. The establishment of Leadership Forums and continued use of employee surveys are keys to success.
