I worked at Glanbia Performance Nutrition full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Products are great. No doubt there. I still use some of them. Some great people who are still there and who work hard but are stuck.

    Cons

Don't believe the latest reviews you're seeing. Glanbia is NOTORIOUS for asking employees to leave positive reviews for them and their products, even when no one has tried them. I believe that some of these 4 and 5 stars are just that...Trying to raise their rating. Bottom line, people are quitting in large numbers, and there are people who have been there more than 5 years. That's a bad sign. Culture is terrible and they act like they care but they do not.

    Pros

    Flexible schedule. Good immediate management

    Cons

First off this review is almost irrelevant as the speciality sales division of GPN is going to be obsolete very soon. They already let go about 30% of the outside sales team and if the people working in that division think they are safe they are being foolish. - When I left Glanbia and my new employer called for verification that I was in sales Glanbia told my new employer I was only an “associate”...a term I never heard used to describe my role nor was in the hand book. VERY UNDERHANDED and they lost all my respect for GPN after that. - leadership is clueless. They throw a bunch of new products at you at once with no direction on how to sell them and then they discontinued them without notice. - zero communication. Getting an email back from someone was close to winning the lotto. Then they would ask you a question that you already answered in the body of your first email. And this didn’t happen once or twice, it was constant. - they would discontinue items without telling the sales people. You’d have to find out from distribution. - Wasted ton of money on promotional item we didn’t ask for or need. And not only that they sent waaayyyy too much of it. If there was some communication instead of inferring what we need GPN wouldn’t have spent so much on promotional items stores didn’ want or use. - Slow to market. They talked about sending us branded barrel coolers for a new drink we launched. By the time they sent them to the reps the drink was discontinued. Genius. - No sales training or development. This is where your career goes to die. They won’t advance you and won’t give you the training to advance. If you want collect a paycheck then Glanbia is for you. If you want to advance yourself and your career look elsewhere. - Upper management started only hiring people form their old company coca-cola. - When I applied for other jobs within the organization I was told by HR “we are only entertaining external hires right now”

I have been working at Glanbia Performance Nutrition full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I have been here at Glanbia Performance Nutrition for about 2 years. Great opportunities for people that have the entrepreneurial mindset. This isn’t your typical 9-5 job you get back what you put out, have seen people get promoted within a year two, people with drive and passion really make this place fun! Working with different regions of GPN you really feel you’re part of something big. Everyone is always willing to help or provide guidance if you ask. Highly recommend someone working here that enjoys working in a fast paced multifaceted environment. Management is great always willing to provide guidance, you just have to ask. Great Benefits, and perks! It’s been a great experience so far.

    Cons

Would love to have more opportunities to work cross functionally or have a rotation program.

I worked at Glanbia Performance Nutrition full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Glanbia is the industry leader with new products coming out on what feels like a daily basis!

    Cons

In a changing market a company changing it's focus makes sense however, putting one team to the curb to be forgotten does not help.

I have been working at Glanbia Performance Nutrition full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The balance between work & life is perfect. Glanbia understands that hard workers need to shut down and recharge to be productive. They offer great opporutnit8ies to interact with other colleagues and are very generous with days off or hours off prior to a major holiday . More companies should take notes from their culture pertaining to time off. They try and put a more European mentality to time off and leisure.

    Cons

Everything here is a work in progress. Things change constantly , month to month , day to day , quarter to quarter. Glanbia is fairly new and with the amount of acquisitions they have made in the Sports Nutrition Space they are still trying to find their identity and what works to maximize their dollar and maximize the best they can get from each of their employees. Because of this they are always trying new strategies and way to make things better. We understand their vision and we get they are always trying to find a better way , but sometimes its best to let things play out before changing . Also it can get frustrating with constant change , yes change is good , I agree complacency is never a good thing in business , but to much change is not good either.

I worked at Glanbia Performance Nutrition full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Glanbia is a great company for individuals looking to get experience in the Sports Nutrition Industry. Departments like Quality, R&D, Sales and Marketing keep the company thriving.

    Cons

Over the past 5 years upper management have been cut throat in departments such as Supply chain and Procurement. As someone pointed out, they want to operate like they are a world class organization. But they allowed all of the good staff get away. Particularly in Supply chain and Procurement. They should really investigate the integrity of the leadership that has been in key positions in the last 5 years. They don't care about people working for them. Only themselves. Also, this may be do to racism where minorities have been treated poorly. Management have even been known to curse you out simply because they can and they know you need a job. Unfair pay to minorities not just African Americans. So if you must take a position at this company's corporate office in Downers Grove. Keep a backup plan and only take the job for the experience and get out!

I have been working at Glanbia Performance Nutrition full-time

    Pros

+#1 brands & company globally in the sports nutrition category; it's fun to play for the winning team. +Deep partnerships with the top customers in the space, a vertically integrated business on raw materials and manufacturing, and quality systems based on a philosophy of no compromise means relatively more stability and growth in what historically has been a volatile, faddish industry that has been plagued by less than ethical players & the tag line of "buyer beware". This is company is a bright spot in the industry that is doing things the right way. +Irish ownership with a health mission who as of late have been doing the acquiring of businesses, not the selling of businesses, unlike many other brands and companies in the category who have been selling off their businesses to big Food or private equity. +Fun, smart, good people +Mix of industry veterans, classical CPGers, & Irish expats +Heavy focus on strategy, M&A, and innovation +World-class R&D & consumer testing facility, Best-in-Class factories & Quality programs making products you can be proud of for consumers who are over-the-top loyal and zealous about taking them. +Most of the leaders seem to genuinely care for people, are approachable and real, and are working to implement much needed structures for career mapping, succession planning, and development/training for employees. +Ability to work beyond the job spec, wear multiple hats and take on new stretch opportunities. +Good track record of promoting from within +Lifestyle connection to the brands and products (free/discounted products and workout gear, A+ gym facility at HQ, team workouts, people living a fit lifestyle, etc.) +Significant growth has resulted in strong bonus payouts +Salary and benefits are competitive +Company is willing to invest in growth +Good work-life-balance is possible with a little effort +All in all, a great place to work

    Cons

-Rapid and dramatic change is ever-present in the company & in the industry. The pace of change cannot be understated and it is only exacerbated by growth. It is not for the faint of heart and requires an ability to roll with the punches in response to frequent changes on various levels of the working environment: company, organizational structure, consumer trends, customer shifts, new products, culture, tools, processes, and people. -Decisions are often made by committee due to lack of clarity around decision-making rights and are at times subjected to over-analysis. -Alignment to decisions can be temporary and fleeting, causing organizational tension and/or operational disruption. -Heavy focus on innovation and new product development creates a lot of churn across the company ecosystem and by nature of the industry, many of the new products will and do fail. -Growing pains: the company has grown up so fast, integrated new brands, re-organized structurally, and brought on so many new people, processes, functional areas, systems and policies that there are often blurred lines of responsibility, missteps and turf jockeying over who will own legacy work, miscommunication between cross-functional teams, global versus regional power struggle frictions, day to day operating disconnects, and more and more bureaucracy creep. -Hardly any global or expat opportunities for non-Irish employees -No employee stock purchase program or any easy way to participate in the stellar stock growth since Glanbia entered the Sports Nutrition space via acquisition. -Some systems are not up to par with other big CPG players or are non-existent altogether (e.g. CRM, TPM).

I have been working at Glanbia Performance Nutrition full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I would highly recommend the company to friends (and have done so already) for the following reasons: Co-workers- very supportive management who you growth initiatives to improve you skill set and just the right amount of direction to guide you. Teammates are very approachable and have a team first mentality. Mission and Values- With a mission of "Inspire people everywhere to achieve their performance goals", this is a company that you can feel proud to work for. With the products we sell and how important product integrity is internally, you as an employee can feel inspired to truly be making an impact in people's lives in a very positive way. Values like Teamwork, Passion for our Brands, Find a Better Way, Customer Fixation, and others are really embraced and a part of what you do in your job. Performance Nutrition Industry- this industry is big enough to feel established (10+Billion Dollars), yet has enough growth potential that you have plenty of room for innovative ideas and products that will satisfy your creative needs. This is a highly competitive industry so if you like the pressure of finding ways to achieve your sales goals and partner with your accounts to find win-win situations, this is a great industry and company to be in. Glanbia is a leader in the category with a great mix of established brands and new brands being introduced. The category has a lot of growth potential and the focus on protein and energy in the general population allows for new markets and financial levers to established yet. Glanbia Brands- Each of Glanbia's brands have their own unique voice and customer. This makes your job very exciting as you build campaigns and sales programs to represent each of the brands accurately. If means your plans and day to day activities do not get stale and you have the chance to continuously learn about our products and the ones we compete against. Glanbia has been acquiring great brands over the last few years so the product mix is always improving and contributing to the bottom line. Personal Satisfaction- a career at Glanbia really rewards you personally in many ways. Not only from the very fair financial compensation and PTO/vacation policies, but how the products you sell really help people achieve their performance goals. Glanbia provides constant product/category education via their Sports Nutrition School program which is also used by some of our customers. You really feel accomplished at the end of each day as the projects/initiatives you allocate time to are really contributing to the company's bottom line. The office environment is friendly, bright, open, and competitive. Competitive in a way where we help each other grow as a team not just an individual. With so many people from many different industries in past careers, you can really learn a great deal thru conversations. The work is fast paced and meaningful and there is room for advancement as the company does a great job of promoting from within. The focus on personal heath and fitness (fantastic gym in office) really helps your energy level and attitude! OVERALL, Glanbia is a very satisfying place to work for those that like to grow their skill sets, think outside the box to find creative solutions, work in a true team environment, value customer feedback, and can handle fast paced environment. I am very happy with decision to be a part of the Glanbia team.

    Cons

My only non 5 star rating of the 5 categories below is Compensation & Benefits. The individual pay, PTO/Vacation time, laptop, iPhone, medical benefits, 401K/company matches, annual bonus, product discounts are all FANTASTIC. The only improvements in the benefits plan would be around evaluation of company cars as benefit option and offering stock options. Great company to be a part of overall!

I have been working at Glanbia Performance Nutrition full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The work is easy. 4 weeks total pto from your first day. Climate controled facility. Management does care what the employees do. Product is cheap for employees to purchase.

    Cons

Everything thing that is a pro is also a con at Glanbia Performance Nutrition. Employees do what ever they want because there is no supervision. You are capped at the vacation they give you from day 1. They do not pay out for vacation not used and if you are no longer employed there they take whatever vacation time not earned from your last check. Work is so easy people are lazy. Raises max out at 4% which no one gets.
