      Global Experience Specialists Response

      Director Global Talent Management

GES encourages career development by providing training to employees. Continuous Learning – We provide tuition reimbursement for professional development. Recognition Programs – Our recognition programs reward those who excel in a variety of ways, including raffles and cash awards for those nominated by their peers for outstanding performances. Thank you for taking the time to write this all out, and I'm sorry that you are feeling this way. I'm really excited about the culture we have in the Design & Exhibit Sales team at GES as a whole, and we have a deep commitment to continue its tradition as a place everyone feels welcome, valued, and enthusiastic about their job. That said, your concerns are absolutely heard, and we will take them to heart as we move forward. We remain confident that we are a mission-driven company with amazing people doing great work, and we are proud of our folks every day

      Pros

Your co workers will become your family here. During my career at GES I had the best boss, and so many amazing co workers who I'm still friends with today. I got to travel to so many new locations in the USA, and overall really enjoyed the experience. If you love tradeshows, events, and travel this is a great place to work. I only caution that you know your limitations. The hours are long and there are times where you are traveling up to 75% - 80% of the time. But if you are single with few ties to tie you to home, this is a great job.

      Cons

The pay is really really bad! In this position your pay is hourly and for most city's in the U.S. you only hit OT pay after you've reached 40 hours for the week. You can spend 16+ hours on a show floor, and only make your standard hourly rate with few to no breaks. It's even worst if you are in the middle of a show when your pay clock resets. Additionally, there is no point in holding out for a raise. GES bases your raises off of your shows survey scores, but only for shows in your region. So if you work outside of your region and knock a show out of the park, you get nothing for it. Every year I exceeded my survey goals, and my reward was a $0.16 raise every year. Honestly, it's pretty insulting for all the hard work EAC & ES puts in. Especially knowing I was making more working at a gas station in collage then I was working for GES.
