    Pros

Company was formed by monitor group, which got acquired by Integreon earlier, and was sold to NewQuest a few years ago. The company re-branded itself into Grail Insights, as an independent entity lately, to grow; hence, it is only, lately that the company has started thinking at it's own (with a CEO coming on board); but has a lot of old baggage. Most of the mid-senior management is home grown, and is here... forever. Lately, the company has started hiring a lot from outside, to bring subject matter expertise and to grow People are expected to do every thing (which could be good or bad from the perspective you take it or depending upon the stage that you are in your career). If you are someone, whose sole aim is to stick to just one company and not concerned about where you are heading in the long term, it might be the best place. You just need to go with the flow - initially it might be a bumpy ride, as it takes a bit of effort to get aligned to the way of thinking /working (it is not a very well defined system ).

    Cons

Tremendous pressure (in not so good way): There are a number of dynamics that always play and makes it a very pressure job: -- Project level roles vs Title: Titles are defined; but may not always get aligned with the work that you do on a project --Unorganised working: -- Best practices of solutions are not defined: Re-engineer the wheel always or just rely on people's knowledge who worked in the past,... which may not even be a reasonable to optimum solution -- Lately company has started ISO processes to maintain it's knowledge; but enablement is missing -- Delivery System: You are expected to deliver whatever comes in your way (it could even be non-research; and even in research it could be as specific to listening an interview and making transcript or as specialised as conducting an expert interview), irrespective of strengths and areas of expertise/interest one has. Some other things as follows: -- Client Proposals are mostly written in the air, which may have gaps when it comes to execution (there is no pre-test approach kind of thing; even a new approach will be executed on a client project and might not get standardised over-time -- Delivery person has almost all the responsibility of ensuring everything from project/proposals (figuring out solution, figuring out resources - the team could be under-staffed due to resource crunches or even if staffed might not be skilled enough..) to non-project related things hiring, training, people management etc., -- Client exposure: Mostly on Phone -- Attitude of Senior people: Some very senior folks are stick to their way of working; they get into projects whenever they want to, and change direction, which might be annoying some times. -- Sales Team Influence: Sales teams are always running towards their targets and at times dictate delivery (in a soft manner) to do things in a certain way. The philosophy of the delivery system can be very different depending upon the quarter you are in. Volume based work (primarily driven by expected revenue growth): -- At Junior level (Analyst/APL), people are expected to work on one project at one time -- As you grow, it is just about how much you can deliver: you are expected to run a high number of projects/proposals, do all the project related things (figuring out a solution, running a project, managing all processes related to ISO even including things that other senior folks are supposed to do) and non-project things (be it recruitment - un-planned/planned, support other projects/people in absence of organised working etc.) Perception driven: Perception play a big role in the system, people are evaluated how they are seen in the system

I worked at Grail Insights full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    1. Good work environment (because of the young crowd) 2. People are easily accessible here

    Cons

So so so many. 1. No short term and long term goals 2. Career paths of most people not defined. If you're good at boot-licking and have enough good luck, you'll be ok, otherwise you're ruined for the next few years 3. The CSOs sell anything in order to keep up the sales numbers. They will even try to bring in legal projects if the billables are good 4. The allocation of the resources is a joke. They staff... anyone on any project irrespective of their past experience, skills, and talent.....and the managers expect them to give 110% from the get go. 5. Coming to the managers, some of them have had a very quick and explosive growth (majorly because they have certain talents such as boot licking, playing politics etc.), and hence they are not ripe enough professionally to ha dle projects well. The result is, associates and juniors suffer a lot 6. You get mothing for the good work, if you're not a manager's fav guy 7. The promotions are on 3 levels. Level 1 is priority focus, where the so called top managers first get everything aligned for their face juniors to help them in promotions. Level 2 is a 50-50 chance where your luck plays an important role. Level 3 is low priority band, and you'll only.progress in career further under this band when you have 5 rating everywhere. Otherwise, they'll pick any comment or remark from any feedback and tell you that this is the reason why we aren't promoting you. (I can sag this with confidence because I have seen people getting lower ratings being promoted, and the others not given a progression)

    Advice to Management

    1. Sort out your allocations please. A life sciences guy won't like to work all year long on ICT projects 2. Please make sure your new managers actually know the art of managing work, client and the team....all of them. That's how the work can be done better 3. Have a direction for CSOs, don't just set region wise quotas for them, also consider having good quantity and quality of projects across your focus... industry sectors 4. Provide better opportunities and scope of growth for people having masters degree. No matter who and from which college, if he or she is a bachelor they would still be a few steps behind the ones with MBA degree when we talk about management, client handling etc

I have been working at Grail Insights full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Work culture is amazing as most of the hires are usually young people - It has many well-renowned clients and holds good reputation in the industry

    Cons

    - Exposure to different projects is very limited if stuck in a team/ group - The compensation variation for same position is huge at times - Lack of recognition - Only few opportunities in terms of quantitative/qualitative projects if the employee has been staffed on a secondary project

    Advice to Management

    - The management should carefully assess the skills and education background of each candidate to find the best fit (Group as well as projects) - It should ensure that personal goals (in terms of project exposure) of an individual are also met while striving to meet the company goals - The personal development assistant (PDA) program can be improved further if the request raised remains confidential and is only... shared to concerned people

    Pros

There are some smart people. I wonder why they are with Grail

    Cons

There is something pathetic in the DNA of this company. Work culture is bad. Long work hours. Nepotism. Bad HR policies. Join this company only if you are desperate for a job

    Advice to Management

No advise. You have ruined it bad enough

I have been working at Grail Insights full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nothing I can think of actually

    Cons

    - the worst management ever - pathetic culture - You will get stuck in the same project for year which will stop ypur growth after few months - lots and lots of favouritism - you will have to literally beg for leaves (only in case of some managers) - In short, they do everything to make your life a living hell

    Advice to Management

I think, its too late already for any advice or change. The company is in a very bad state and just hope Rob Stone might make it better in sometimw atleast 4-5 years
