I have been working at Grant Thornton Ireland full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people have been very nice and the corporate culture is awesome. They have put a lot of work to engage staff during the pandemic. Benefits include time off in lieu accruals (regular hours are 7.25/day), on site canteen (subsidized pricing) and montly reimbursement of up to €750/year private healthcare premiums when you sign up to their provider (VHI). Lot of cultural diversity and gender equality. There is also lots of room for promotions and growth.

    Cons

None really noted and I've worked here for over a year.

I have been working at Grant Thornton Ireland full-time

    Pros

Grant Thornton is for you if; - You like diverse and exciting projects; - You are willing to work hard and be flexible; - You are an ambitious individual who wants to grow a career; - You want a diverse range of experiences; - You enjoy being thrown into the deep end, sink or swim when it comes to learning and work; - You enjoy business and everything that comes along with that contracts, networking, stakeholder management etc. - You want the corporate lifestyle, sports and social, lovely offices, great perks.

    Cons

Grant Thornton is not for you if; - You have no flexibility: work changes daily and weekly and you need to have flexibility no matter what the level; - You like a 9 to 5: as above a career in GT Advisory is not 9-5, there can be some travel and out of hours working involved; - You aren't willing to be strategic: you have to be smart and strategic to survive here especially when it comes to promotions and building relationships with the right people in the right places; - You are sensitive: If you are sensitive and very self centric GT is not for you, everyone on the team makes sacrifices (for which you will be well rewarded) but they aren't about holding hands. You need to be tough to thrive.

    "FS Consulting - Toxic culture"

I worked at Grant Thornton Ireland full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some good people working in this department but they usually don't last long in this environment. Partners try to make the atmosphere good by emphasising an underdog culture. Expenses are paid if on client site which is nice. Some social events are decent and there is a nice youthful vibe.

    Cons

There is an 'inner circle' of people who all look after each other in FSA Consulting and shut out many people who are not in the firm as long. It leads to an 'us and them' atmosphere. It is difficult to get on interesting and challenging projects if you are not liked by these people, ehich is not the way other consultancy firms work, and is destructive. The people who make up this 'inner circle' or 'click' are now mostly in very senior positions, and there is absolutely no leadership from them because they are all following their own personal agendas rather than trying to help the firm grow and develop the people below them. They lack the skills and personality to bring people with them and grow the firm, which is not surprising as they have only focused on themselves and keeping other newer people down to advance their own careers. Diversification of clients and projects has proven to be a real problem for FSA Consulting.
