I have been working at Hermes full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Started as an apprentice, received some very good training with a great support system to help me grow from an almost complete beginner. I am employed full time as a junior developer. Since completing my apprenticeship I have also been offered more training and have somewhat free will on what I train in - providing it's something that will benefit the company.

    Cons

    I personally haven't had any.

    Advice to Management

Good doing what you're doing. Continue to invest and strive for growth.

I worked at Hermes full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great colleagues! Very challenging position with new challenges every day.

    Cons

Few of the managers could be better. In such an important role within customer service, it's about quality, yet the targets and development were all quantity based.

    Advice to Management

Hand more responsibility to the CEO complaints advisors, they are very good at what they do; yet the manager is passed the most important complaints, giving them less time to focus on other things.

I have been working at Hermes part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pros?!!! What pros? There are none.

    Cons

Extremely low rates of pay even with the new rules coming into force. No health & safety rules or guidelines. Hermes treats All Couriers the same whether they are good or bad. The rates do not take account of the depreciation on the vehicle you use. Plus any family issues ie death of a family member, is completely ignored. No one cares if your Mum suddenly dies!!! Not happy at all with this company.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your self employed staff. They work on the coal face. And do as Sir Richard Branson does. Treat your staff better and they will then sing praises about the company.

I have been working at Hermes part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The promise of flexibility and arranging your own day and being your own boss was very appealing, as was the offer of plenty of work available if I left my old job and joined Hermes. When I have delivery work I really enjoy it and meeting people and listening to Radio 2 as I trundle around the countryside.

    Cons

Sadly, over a year has passed and I still have very little work. I get around 3 days work a week on average, mostly given to me with very little notice so there is no flexibility and with such little work you can't afford to ever say no to work even if you have other plans that day. Pay can be quite reasonable on some rounds and it's possible to earn over £12 an hour on highly paid rounds. Lesser rounds very often pay...

    Advice to Management

Talk to your couriers and treat them fairly. We have bills to pay and mouths to feed too. If we deliver a parcel please pay us. If we deliver a large box please pay us the correct rate and not as a small packet (called the packet racket) If you encourage us to join Hermes then please give us enough work to survive.
