I worked at Hot Topic part-time for less than a year

    Pros

40% employee discount, if you're passionate about the items you sell it's easier to help customers, co-workers are easy to get along with

    Cons

There is a ridiculous quota to meet when it comes to pitching random items such as candy and nail polish, getting every person to sign up for the guest-list or your numbers go down dramatically and you get less shifts. You almost have to force the customer to sign up for the guest list. The managers expect you to greet every single customer, while completing tasks such as recovering the entire store, restocking and ringing, in order to not get written up, all for a couple bucks each hour. Pay is way to low for the amount of labor and what's expected.

I worked at Hot Topic part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Employee Discount is decent.

    Cons

Poor training. Poor pay. Expectation to come in at the drop of a hat when the manager can't schedule properly, so bad scheduling and under-staffing issues. Bad management. Extremely poor pay, I can't stress this enough. You will be paid nearly minimum wage and you will be scheduled very few hours a week. It's not worth your time. If you need a small check one week while waiting for another employer to hire you, then I get that. But otherwise, save your time. You'll be bored and stressed at the same time when you do have a shift. It's just not worth it unless you're very young and just want that store discount.
