Huntsman Polyurethanes is all talk but no action.
25 Apr 2013 -RecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Huntsman provides its employees with great insurance, safe working conditions as well as a nice work environment. Upper management always seemed to know what the priorities of the company were and worked at informing their employees of these priorities.
Cons
Salary is below average compared to averages at other large polyurethane companies for technicians, chemists and engineers. Middle management has no "real" authority in regards to pay raises, firing employees, and hiring employees. Employees in technical roles are not overly valued and getting promoted in the company in nearly impossible. Lastly the technology provided is outdated in regards to both lab equipment as well as computer equipment.
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Good working environment; people are treated with decency. Offices are generally nice. Nice job of reshaping the company is generating great (unrealized?) potential.
Cons
Middle management is weak resulting in indecisiveness. Communication is also very weak. Career development is very poor, people apparently can only fill one role. Leadership is non-existent, survival mode management only. As with most large organizations, personal reputation management far exceeds management of the business.

Great location and at a high level a good company to work for
28 May 2014 - IT Staff Member in The Woodlands, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
As mentioned, it's a great location. Friendly atmosphere and overall great working environment. The businesses are agile and able to adapt quickly to market changes. The company is throwing efforts to make the workplace even more welcoming. Huntsman itself is doing well and has a great future ahead.
Cons
Cost savings initiatives are understood but "quick" decisions have cost many long time staff members their positions.

Great work environment, challenging, interesting, safe, and excellent management.
Cons
Close to nothing. Just be prepared to work. If you do, you'll have a great time

Pros
- Good teamwork in the field, with operators and millwirghts. - End users want equipment to run so they provide good feedback once they sense you want to help them. - Work environment is acceptable, no unnecessary stress (at least in my position)
Cons
- No formal training provided. Engineer has to learn on his own and from others if they are willing to share.

Great experience!
10 Jan 2018 - Chemical Technician in The Woodlands, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Excellent healthcare benefits, 401k, and flexibility around personal days and time off. Pay is at market rate, but no higher. I had a great experience here. Good coworkers and work environment.
Cons
Advancement opportunities are limited unless you fall specifically into Engineering, Chemists, or Finance role, however tuition reimbursement is available should u decide to pursue one of these tracks.
