    Pros

Some great coworkers. The adversity brings employees together and the groups are tight as a result.

    Cons

Poor compensation, next to no bonuses or LTIs. Work schedule is okay and flexible some of the time. Lots of managers who think they know more than everyone but don't. Lots of bureaucracy for a company that boasts of being a flat family run organization. Lack of a safety culture, the company is stuck in the 1970s and 1980s model of safety where rules and punishments are the motivators. The modern model should preach personal accountability for yourself and others and provide the necessary information to do the work safely (this is also sadly often not available). Horrible safety metrics and getting worse year over year.

I worked at IKO Industries full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Before the close involvement of the Corporate teams, the plant was the best place to work in world as it was led by a visionary plant manager. However, after the PM was fired due to financial embezzlement, that's when the downfall started in terms of moral, trust, job satisfaction and motivation. - Lack of "managing people" means, you can get by without doing anything - qualification is not a pre-requisite for even a the upper management roles

    Cons

    - Lowest salaries in the industries and geographically - Dental and health plan lacks so much, almost everything a young person would need isn't covered 100% - Vacation also starts at 2 weeks no matter where you come from. Salaries are not based on your role but how well you can haggle and/or are liked by the management - No proper communication channels, union's are treated very poorly, but middle management is even worse - No annual performance reviews period. Salary increases are less than annual inflation rate, every year - Management are experts on giving false hopes and not pulling through - Safety, well, let's just say they don't believe it is primary, just a necessary evil so the minimum is good enough. - As for environment, a little bit of excess emissions into the air and water is not a big deal (don't need to notify MOE every time) If you have the choice of even a minimum wage job and working at IKO, i would recommend choosing the former

I worked at IKO Industries full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Pay is acceptable for the position Most of the workforce is pleasant

    Cons

Expect to work far more hours than told in interviews, including expectations of weekend work, for salary members. Fast paced, agile, family owned = We are going to change production schedules so often your head will spin. Fair, ethical, honest, and open treatment of workers below superintendent not a given. Safety gets a lot of talk but resources are never allocated to back that up.

Very abusive place to work. Even though they had a harassment policy, they did not follow it at all. Abuse was daily occurrence for the workers and if you complained you were terminated.
