I worked at Iceland Foods part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Above NMW - 10% staff discount - Company Christmas party for whole area - Flexible hours

    Cons

    - Poor management in some stores - Bad practices with food safety (eg. leaving chilled meats outside in the heat for 5+ hours and then when querying it to management they tell you to put it in the chiller and it'll be fine) - Management offloading excessive work to lower level staff, poor delegation - Poor teamwork and feeling of being valued

I worked at Iceland Foods full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Colleague engagement aplenty and lots of opportunity to get involved with charity initiatives. Staff discount for stores and IRC discount for head office staff. Colleagues are nice and that’s across all departments. Work is varied and interesting.

    Cons

Department director absent a lot and didn’t seem interested. Chaotic management, lots of things last minute and a lack of planning at times (eg tight deadlines which could be avoided). Not enough staff leading to long working hours for some. No consistency across departments (eg career development schemes open to some depts but not all).

I have been working at Iceland Foods part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Staff discount, you can be yourself, you can learn all aspects of being staff, and there’s great potential to move up.

    Cons

You can find you either have far too many hours or not enough depending on staff availability. Can be spread thinly across the shop if there’s only a few staff in.
