I have been working at Independent News full-time

    Pros

Dynamic fast paced business going through considerable digital transformation. Staff are highly skilled & lovely to work with.

    Cons

As a result of the level of change, new structure, RACI etc. there is a level of flux. 2020 will see the new structure bed down.

I worked at Independent News full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    There are no pros here

    Cons

That place is full of bullies at all levels and such behaviors are supported and actively practiced by the management team, which doesn't seem to get appointed based on merit or abilities but has to be that kind of specimen to fit in the company's culture. Sadly, there is also some nice people there that have spent their whole professional life within the company. If you are looking for a position in media I strongly recommend you to do so elsewhere.

I have been working at Independent News full-time

    Pros

Good exposure to interesting work. Good work life balance.

    Cons

Pressurised industry for newspapers. Investment in people not prioritised and becomes obvious. Lack of focus and clear lack of belief that culture and communication from management important. Leads to culture of rumours and gossipping about possible changes. Cutbacks in resources but just expected that same workload will get done within team, don't care how or if feasible. Short termist in strategy and performance measurement. Not an environment where you can expect your work to speak for itself.
