Very nice experience. I learned maximum things there. Three dimention force. Join the navy see the world. Good place to learn.

      Cons

Family life less. Nothing more on cons. It's a good carrier opportunity. People should serve the nation. They should join it.

      Pros

A highly adventurous life. Extremely fulfilling. Get to see quite a few different countries and interact with people from different cultures. Highly sophisticated ships, submarines and aircraft.

      Cons

Family life can be quite disrupted particularly in operational appointments. The frequency of transfers can be quite over-whelming and does cause a problem particularly for children's education.

      Pros

It is great place to work and learn cutting edge technology. Working at defense force which is always at front and active, demands hard work, dedication and passion. It is a service to nation.

      Cons

Sacrifice the family life and mostly we have to be away from home. We get 60 days of leave in a year to compensate the loss of personal family time. Discrimination which existed during British rule with Indian sailors is continue till date after 69 years of freedom, should end.

      Indian Navy - Professional Service

      Pros

I loved the adventure, professionalism and leadership opportunities that the Indian Navy offered to me. It has put me a cut above the rest in the corporate world. Now that I have worked in both the arenas, I value what the training and opportunities that the services have bestowed on me

      Cons

You must have a love for adventure, you must be ready to sacrifice on family life with being transferred at times at short notice across the country. You must be ready to live out of boxes and move houses four to five times in a city before the next transfer out of the city. The Indian Navy is only for the strong hearted and not the weaklings.

      Pros

job security ,good for those do not like changes in job profile, perks of government service, increments and raises not linked to performance

      Cons

total non- transparency in appraisal system (biggest drawback), rigid system, cannot change jobs for professional development (another big drawback for technical professionals), limited opportunity for growth, no assured growth unlike other government services, salary not commensurate with hardships ,unstable family life due to frequent transfers and lack of family accomodation/proper schools.
