I worked at Industrial Light & Magic full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Some of the projects are good - There is a gym - There are some cool people to work with - There is free food and drinks sometimes - You get to see crew screenings of movies for free

    Cons

    - You get harassed by junkies and homeless people right outside of the office - There is a LOT of overtime on every project and it's still getting worse - People from other studios are hired for lead or supervisor jobs instead of promoting people already there - There are a lot of double standards: 1. Friends of management can say and do things other people would get fired for 2. Women bad at their jobs will... get a different position or a promotion and keep getting paid to do a bad job, but men would get fired for the same thing 3. If you aren't friends with management or the right supervisors you don't work on the best projects or get good shots or get promoted even if you are talented

    Advice to Management

    - Get rid of the people there because of favoritism and politics and get rid of the management and supervisors doing that - Promote more people already working there instead of strangers from other studios - Fix how much overtime everyone has to work on every project

I worked at Industrial Light & Magic

    Pros

I have no Pro's my experience here made me have a mental breakdown thanks to my supervisors treatment.

    Cons

    - Expected to know their software in 2 weeks - Terrible Management in Production -Treated like I wasn't intelligent enough to work in film - My Sup was so belligerent I would cry in the bathroom and couldn't leave my desk for lunch

    Advice to Management

To make somewhere feel insignificant to the point of giving them a warning for not knowing you software in less than a months time is insane and not normal. Thanks to working at ILM I had quit the film industry. What was supposed to be my dream job made me feel completely inadequate and despondent in my career choice. Sadly I had an Master Degree and was studying for a PhD I never experience such treatment at any... other facility. The way you treat both women and people is disgraceful.
