Cons
Inovalon is a company where the masses suffer silently. It's a company that doesn't value work life balance at all where working evenings and weekends are the expectation, not the exception. It wouldn't bother me as much if it wasn't for the fact that putting in long hours is the results of our own ineptitude and inefficiencies. We're not putting in the late hours to work on an exciting new release or to impact changing in a meaningful way - we work late because we can't get out of our own way. Employees are basically in one large boat putting in a lot of effort but rowing in opposing directions, never advancing. Inovalon has neither a large, sophisticated software company but they're not a small mom & pop shop either. And yet somehow, they've managed to combine the worst attributes of both. Inovalon has clunky rules and regulations like a huge corporation but lack discipline and processes like a start up being run out of a garage. Lastly, I've seen layoffs happen at every single company I've worked at in the past. Unfortunately, they happen but the manner in which it's done speaks to the true integrity of a company and it's senior management. Layoffs occur almost monthly at this organization and even those who've been with the company for years get zero notice period. In fact, their access is shut off on the spot so they have no chance of saying goodbye and ensuring a smooth transition with those left behind. Another example of poorly made business decisions.

They’re Trying
23 Oct 2021 - Senior Manager Workforce Management in Sylacauga, ALRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Some business units are trying to build better culture and improve work life balance. Certain leaders are compassionate and wonderful mentors who build strong teams and make data-driven decisions. Those select few will end up being the saving grace of what could be a fantastic place to work.
Cons
Short-sighted decisions lead to wasteful spending, poor hiring practices lead to high turnover. Same problems year after year after year and no one addresses root cause. Insist on using proprietary tools but refuse to invest in modern solutions.

Severe micromanagement, No work life balance, No processes, Extremely ridiculous deadlines
17 Mar 2021 - Senior Software Engineer in Canonsburg, PARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Very helpful and honest members in Development, QA and Release/Infrastructure/Networking teams May get some horizontal growth if you are on the right team.
Cons
Canonsburg location has degenerated from last year to extremely ridiculous deadlines Severe micromanagement and callous attitude of upper management and complete lack of sympathy towards employees is causing everyone's morale to dip and is increasing irritability across the teams. Rigorous work hours for all teams. 10-12 hours a day for a few months. Employees have to work over the weekends as well. Absolute zero work life balance. Product quality is undermined as all software development processes and principles are sacrificed because of delivery deadlines. No opportunity for vertical growth unless you are favorites of upper management Some folks in Upper management and even leadership are arrogant, pompous and condescending

Thank you for taking time to provide feedback. Inovalon is committed to creating a collaborative and comfortable environment in which employees feel challenged and empowered and that their voices are heard. Part of our goal to create a collaborative and comfortable environment is supporting our employees’ work-life balance. Inovalon is working to implement initiatives to encourage employees to unplug during off hours. This kind of shift begins with our managers, so we will also be building in manager training to encourage employees to unplug when they are off the clock. If you’d like to provide further feedback or ways that we could help implement better work/life balance, please email us at GlassdoorFeedback@inovalon.com. Thank you!

If You Have Another Offer - Take it!!
25 May 2021 - Software Developer in Bowie, MDRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I truly enjoyed working with my team, they were extremely talented and great to work with. It provided a steady paycheck, weak health coverage which most doctors don't take, and some of the teams are awesome to work with, and actually know what they are doing. During the pandemic, it was a much appreciated job!
Cons
Executive & Senior leadership are more mouth pieces than contributors to ANY of the work done, and they tend to chase off the most talented people because they refuse to listen, have big egos, show favoritism or are peak micro managers. Pay is subpar and if you receive a bonus, consider yourself a very lucky lottery winner (i worked there over 5 years and received one bonus, the other years they always gave excuses). You only get 8 holidays, and that is down from the sorry 10 that they used to give us & only 2 weeks of vacation, which includes your sick leave so, don't get sick. The level of favoritism is so high, you will know from the front door if you have a chance at growth or not. Training is only offered to their favorites, and that can change depending on the day and his/her mood. Different offices work via different schedules, some are agile and others just pretend to be, but still the work is due. Work life balance is a joke, and if you an adult with no children, get ready for the discrimination when you have to take off, for anything. And I almost forgot... Layoffs are a regular thing, be them monthly or quarterly, there are ALWAYS layoffs, so you can guess how high office morale is!
