      Dynamic work environment, great company and people policy, expansion and new acquisition, strong brand name, one of the largest hotel chain globally, strong brands under the umbrella

      can have more owner driven policies, employee retention is low and benefits attached for being part of global brand is not considered. More global opportunities to the the internal work force

      Needs better Executive Management

      offers health benefits, 401K, employee trainings, Cafeteria, options to movie inside the same hotel or change positions or to transfer to another property all together

      Executive team handled the pandemic poorly. They made sure the hotel had all possible PPE supplies no doubt, however they furlough most of the staff and cut the working hours of everyone else. They did not inform the working staff about options such as shared work Ohio or other pandemic relieve programs until months into the pandemic. They repeatedly told us to use out PTO and vacation time instead. So, while executive members still received their $100+/ year paycheck, employees had hrs cut and no extra income if no vacation or PTO available any more. Feedback is not welcome neither is critic. Upper management told us “to be glad to still have a job”. The hotel never paid any hazard pay and the overall pay for the standard positions in that hotel (front desk, accounting, stewarding etc.) are not competitive with other hotels. Many long-time employees left the hotel for other places to work for due to the lack of pay and the work atmosphere. Overall, this hotel used to be a great place with a positive atmosphere, however upper management made it sour for everybody. They try to point the finger on the middle management, however everyone knows what is going on. Now we are totally understaffed and have problems finding new employees.

      Pros

      IHG does offer a reasonable internal training program - however extremely convoluted to access.

      Cons

      Company only interested in padding numbers and points - often forgets human equation of things. Even in the corporate luxury world, it's very plainly seen everywhere - Sales team overpromising and underdelivering, all while patting themselves on the back, line staff that shows no pride or genuine care, and directors who would prefer to hole away and talk numbers instead of finding real solutions - for example, planning a multi-million dollar hotel renovation with only care for look over function.
