    Pros

Great people work here. JFW is a great company to work for as they care about their employees... this shows through the significant tenure held by many employees. Great product, good benefits and perks as well as great work life balance. Lots of opportunity to drive change and improve operations and this is supported at the senior executive level.

    Cons

Typical resource constraints that you will see at most companies.

    Advice to Management

Keep listing to the employees on how to continuously improve processes and company benefits.

I worked at Jackson Family Wines part-time for more than a year

    Pros

discounts on wine, complimentary wine tasting, beautiful properties

    Cons

pay rate is lower than industry standard, work all day without a lunch break, understaffed, poor communication, sucking up gets your farther than your actual skillset, sexual harassment is rampant and accepted as part of culture

    Advice to Management

Recognize and develop employees who are hardworking and competent. Stop using and abusing employees who have the strongest skillsets. Lunch breaks should be taken much more seriously and MANAGED by MANAGERS, not employees themselves! Improve and increase internal communication overall. You will continue to lose great employees unless drastic changes are made.

    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at Jackson Family Wines full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Co-workers were very nice people to work alongside, good teamwork, nice attitude.

    Cons

Certain wine makers were narcissistic and difficult to be around. Laboratory position was repetitive. The international students who came over to do "internships" were given the same duties as cellar workers (they're not the same), so they didn't learn anything. VERY LOW base wages---so low that even the overtime pay was underwhelming.

    Advice to Management

Give your interns more exposure to wine making to balance out the cellar work. For example, let them listen in meetings where they can hear important wine making decisions, instead of confining them to the cellar to do 60 hours of labor per week.

I worked at Jackson Family Wines full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great company perks, like holiday parties and wine gifts, great overall corporate mindset and some really good employee development strategies.

    Cons

As a private family run (albeit huge) company, there still were some internal politics with connections with the family that went uncorrected and can have severe effects on certain workplace environments, but overall a great place to be in the wine industry.

    Advice to Management

Embrace conflict and confront wrongdoers no matter their connections to the family, don't play favorites

    Pros

Incredible team and leadership within the marketing department. Understands business fundamentals better than nearly all key competitors.

    Cons

With family ownership comes the positives and negatives. Quick decisions from leadership is counterbalanced by a strong sense of entitlement and fiefdoms from tenured and family-related employees.

    Advice to Management

Continue to empower the best of the leadership team and evolve based on their strategic goals.
