Pros

-They will hire you with no experience (because people with experience would quit within two days) -You will get a strong skill set (considering you endure harassment, micromanagement and ridicule on an every minute basis) -You will be forced outside your comfortable zone (mainly because you are required to harass and stalk down companies, system developers, workers, managers and trick admin into letting you speak with anyone in their company even after they have asked you to stop calling 50 times and have already called back asking to be put on the "do not call list" -no such thing) -You will learn what is it to survive with an extremely below average, dirt poor salary (while your manager takes all your commission, watches you work all day, listens to your phone calls, criticizes your every move, questions why on earth you would EVER take a vacation day and SICK? no such thing) -You will appreciate every job going forward (and never go back to recruiting because you have post traumatic stress disorder) -You will work extremely hard (because if you don't you will be fired ASAP- wait, sorry, not fired you will "part ways" because they dont want to pay you severance and it "it would be best if you left on your own so it doesnt look bad to your next employer, you werent really happy were you?") -You will meet a ton of people (awesome turn over rate) You will get to go to an occasional company happy hour (so you can get drunk and gossip about who is thinking about quitting and then the manager can fire that person the next day) -You will appreciate your lunch break (as long as your back in your seat at the 59th minute) -You will appreciate the mundane, normal tasks of a regular job after cold calling people who would rather watch paint dry than speak to a random recruiter but youll force the conversation and then probably call back the next day on a blocked number -You will learn to negotiate (haha that was a joke, your manager will tell you what to say and youll just repeat it word for word like a robot but its sort of like negotiating right?) -You will appreciate not paying for parking (because you have to pay for parking and it will cost you half your dirt poor salary)

Pros

There are no good reasons to work here. I know you need a job. But don’t do this to yourself.

Cons

If you’re interested in sales. Run. This isn’t sales. This is highway robbery. Pepper in some sleazy sales techniques. Some ridiculous training. And you’re thrust into the world of used car sales. I mean recruiting. My mistake. If you’re interested in recruiting. Run. This is not recruiting. You’re just calling job boards. And harassing everybody else. - their recruiting software is so bad. Omg it’s so bad. I laughed when I heard how much they paid for it. Omg. It’s hilarious. They still use pen and paper!!! And dirty old resume stacks from before 911. They were transitioning to paperless. But honestly that was a long road ahead from when I left. - you’re gonna fee really bad about yourself working here. You will be required to bring in 4 candidates per week. And often times. You won’t have interviews to send them to. So why bring them in at all? To interrogate them for information. Where they’re interviewing. And when. So you can follow those leads to generate new business. - and how do they generate new business you may ask? And the method they use is cold calling. Which can work don’t get me wrong. But they way we did it was ridiculous. Untrustworthy and wrong. Forget about establishing a relationship with your client. Forget about networking. Forget about decency or people’s time. You cold call with a blocked number. And you keep doing it. And keep doing it. Until they are screaming in your ear. Yelling at you to stop. It’s shocking that in this work culture. No doesn’t mean no. And I wonder where that mentality trickles down from, or into in their outside social life’s. That is. If you’re able to maintain one. I was told by my direct superior. Wives don’t like this job. Family Members don’t like this job. Working 7-7. A scheduled break. Like a child. And forced work events made me a robot. I lost a bit of me. I stopped being funny or laughing. I barely saw my wife. My kid. My friends never saw me either. I felt brainwashed into a cult. And I convinced myself it was for the betterment of my career. It wasn’t. There was a bar nearby. Sometimes the stress drove me to drink at noon. Almost every day. To get that confidence so I can go and do monotonous work for a boss who took my commissions while I made minimum wage. Honestly. I could have suffered a lot more had their been nice people. But they weren’t nice. They were suffering as well. And the ones who drank the kool aid even more than you did we’re just bland. Blank people. And they’d be pitted against you like Ancient Rome. Kill or be killed. Forget teamwork. They don’t stab you in the back. They stab you in the front. For all to see. And when you did strike up a conversation they were mining you for gossip to report back to the bosses. Basic people. Company filled with frat boy losers. I’m shocked at anyone who still works there. Just goes to show you the power of suggestion and how desperate people are to pay off their student loans. How they do that making minimum wage is beyond me. Because the Lyme t structure is utter nonsense. Even one of the managers who was higher up never cashed a single commissions check in his entire tenure. Because your performance is team based. And the revolving door of people leaves little room to grow or develop. Was told I would be making 120k in a year. That was a complete lie. It’s not structured that way. It’s near impossible. And if you buy into this then you need to get help. Because the writing is on the wall. Or the Glassdoor in this case. You are not the exception. Find somewhere better. You’ll thank me. And you’ll thank yourself. This job. Allowed me to quickly find another job. Making more than 120k now. Which is a livable wage in Toronto. And it’s not even that much money these days. So trust me when I tell you. It’s out there. Just not here. You’re young. And finished college/university. You left the drinking frat boy world behind. And the world is leaving that crap behind. Maybe you’re that type that wants that lifestyle still. It’s here in abundance. But if you’re not that. And you’re a free thinker. Who’s intelligent and ambitious. You deserve better. Rant over. Worst period of my life. I was in the Toronto office now I’m in nyc. Doing my thing. My way. Making money doing it. So can you. Run!

Pros

They have solid training here. And though this really a con, they're strict rules + crappy pay will make you really appreciate your next job. They also have happy hours every other week paid for by the company, but that is a big part of what makes working here bearable.

Cons

They will brain wash you here into thinking the way they want you to think. To start off, to woo you into moving forward with them, they'll tell you all the best stories of how fast people got promoted as if it's the norm, but don't be fooled, because they are not realistic expectations. Then, after they bring you on they pay you crap, and they tell you how you can make all this money if you just do your job. They don't pay you commissions per placement as they consider that a privilege. Tell anyone else this in the recruiting industry and they will be flabbergasted. So while you're making placements, your manager is getting paid commissions on all the deals you make, and after making multiple placements (every 4, which takes an above average recruiter 2+ months) you get a raise of between $3000-$4000. Now that sounds good when thought of in annual pay, but when you break it down per paycheck it comes out to a whopping $43-$58 after taxes. And remember your manager is making anywhere from $1500-$4500 for EACH of those 4 placements you made. All this time they will dangle a carrot in front of you, using pretty good psychology to push your buttons perfectly to keep you on board. They tell you the lucky number to reach is 20 placements and that's when you get promoted and are commissionable. Well that number is just the number will they start to consider making you commissionable, as I know of recruiters there that were approaching 30 and still making just salary, less than $50k (btw your salary tops out at $50k). I'd also like to point out that there are several recruiters there that have taken or are there for over 2 1/2 years and still not commissioned. In conclusion, this is a good entry level/straight out of college job to learn a few things, but go into it looking to stay here for 3-6 months and start looking for a new job. And be careful, if you're good and they think you'll be successful, they will try some very sneak ways to get in your head and keep you. And it's true, there are people there that are doing very successful, however, those people are they type of people that will be successful anywhere. So if they think you'll be successful there, basic logic suggests that you too will be successful anywhere, so don't deal with their crap longer than you have too.
