I worked at John Crane full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Well regarded brand within the industry with some excellent knowledge within the company. The company should be given it calibre of employees a great place to work. Work/Life balance is good; you want to arrive at 9 and leave at 5, this will not be looked down on, most management is beyond caring. Great opportunities to travel and globally relocate, however be warned packages offered usually fall short then you are stuck. All travel will be economy class, no biz perks even on long distance. Training is made available to employees internally and externally, but only if you are one of the chosen.

    Cons

HR is completely financial driven, and is disconnected from the needs of the employees. Compensation is below market level and little is done to address this. Sales incentives are based more on group level and this stifles any attempts to motivate sales teams at a local level. No one is really motivated to try that bit harder, with some departments more concerned with internal politics than serving customer needs. The values of the company are not exhibited by management or HR, basic needs of employees are overlooked, also penny wise pound foolish strongly comes to mind.
