I have been working at John Lewis & Partners part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - The 25% partner discount on the majority of goods is a major benefit (12.5% for electrical goods and 15% in Waitrose). - The Partnerchoice website which offers additional discounts at various restaurants, gym memberships and leisure activities including subsidised stays at the partnerships various real estate across the UK. - It looks good on your CV, if you've worked at John Lewis it's clear that you have gained a lot of customer service skills. - You can return as a seasonal temp if you go off to uni etc.

    Cons

    - Definitely a hierarchy issue, many managers go on a bit of a power trip, particularly with younger partners. - Many full time partners take their job so seriously it can be off putting for both colleagues and customers. - There is definitely a big divide between full time partners and part time partners, particularly those referred to as 'the weekeners'. - Many values the partnership used to champion are now put by the wayside in favour of profit; i.e. 'pay for performance' is practically a joke at this point and the partnership do little to adjust pay in reflection of the rising national living wage. New partners are elevated to near enough the same pay as long standing partners who have steadily increased their pay through hard work.
